Congress Should Not Invite Netanyahu, A War Criminal

On 23 July 2024, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders said Congress should not be inviting Netanyahu, a war criminal, to a joint session. He argues that it is a historical first for a war criminal to receive such an honor and a disgrace to the United States.

Netanyahu is accused of war crimes by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for his role in the war on Gaza, resulting in mass civilian deaths and the use of heavy weapons in densely populated areas.

He highlights the devastating impact of the conflict on the Palestinian people, with over 39,000 killed and 89,000 injured, and the destruction of infrastructure, healthcare, and educational systems.

Bernie Sanders advocates for the US to cease military aid to Israel and condemns the statements of Israeli officials advocating for a siege on Gaza and the expulsion of Palestinians. He urges President Biden to stop military aid to Israel and condemn Netanyahu's policies.
