UN warns escalating Israel-Hezbollah violence risks devastating conflict

The United Nations Security Council convened in response to the detonation of Hezbollah’s communication devices across Lebanon, which has been condemned as a violation of international law by UN Human Rights Chief Volker Turk.

These attacks, occurring in public spaces and homes, have killed 37 civilians and injured over 3,000. Lebanon blames Israel for the violence, while Israel denies involvement, attributing the escalation to Hezbollah.

The situation has sparked widespread fear and raised concerns of a broader war, with calls from the U.S. for restraint to avoid further destabilization in the region.
