Shawky Amine Eddine, the humanitarian affairs advisor at the International Committee of the Red Cross in Lebanon, joins Al Jazeera's live from Beirut. He emphasized that hospitals serve as beacons of hope and sanctuaries for human life, where saving lives is paramount.

Under international humanitarian law, he stated, hospitals and medical personnel exclusively providing medical care must be respected and protected.
He highlighted the International Committee of the Red Cross's (ICRC) presence at Rafiq Hariri University Hospital, where they have deployed a surgical team to establish a trauma center, offering care for the wounded and providing relief for healthcare professionals who have been working tirelessly in recent weeks.
