Saudi Arabia says no ties with Israel without Palestinian state

In a strongly worded statement, Saudi Arabia has made its position on the Palestinian issue crystal clear, reaffirming its unequivocal rejection of Israeli settlement expansion, land annexation, and any attempt to displace the Palestinian people. The Kingdom has urged the international community to take action and alleviate the severe suffering endured by Palestinians.
The statement emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s stance on this matter is non-negotiable and not subject to compromise. It firmly declared that achieving lasting peace in the region is impossible without the Palestinian people obtaining their full and legitimate rights, as recognized by international resolutions.
Netanyahu’s Claims vs. Saudi Arabia’s Reality
This declaration comes in stark contrast to recent statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who claimed that normalization with Saudi Arabia was imminent and would “shock people.” However, Saudi Arabia has remained consistent in its position—no normalization with Israel unless there is a clear pathway toward a Palestinian state.
Netanyahu, on the other hand, has spent years opposing the establishment of a Palestinian state and has openly stated that he would dedicate the rest of his political career to preventing it. His remarks highlight the deep divide between Israel’s expectations and Saudi Arabia’s firm stance on Palestinian sovereignty.
Jordan and the Wider Arab Response
The issue has also drawn the attention of Jordan, where King Abdullah II is set to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden in the coming days. Jordan has been vocal in its disapproval of any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, calling it an act of ethnic cleansing. The entire Arab League has echoed similar sentiments, rejecting any attempts to relocate Palestinians and reaffirming that Gaza is Palestinian land and remains their rightful home.
Israel’s Reaction and the Far-Right Agenda
Within Israel, Netanyahu’s government and far-right factions have welcomed the idea of displacing Palestinians. In previous discussions, Israeli officials have used the term “voluntary migration” to describe their encouragement for Palestinians to leave Gaza, despite Palestinians firmly rejecting such a notion.
Israeli far-right groups have praised the idea, claiming that it would allow them to expand illegal settlements and reshape the region to their advantage. Meanwhile, U.S. officials have suggested that Palestinian well-being is not necessarily tied to the land, a claim that contradicts the deeply rooted historical and emotional connection Palestinians have to their homeland.
The Bigger Picture
As Saudi Arabia stands firm on its principles of justice and sovereignty, the question remains—will the international community take meaningful steps to address the ongoing oppression of Palestinians? With mounting tensions, shifting political alliances, and continued Israeli expansion, the path to peace remains uncertain.
What is clear, however, is that Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Palestinian rights is unwavering, and any future negotiations will hinge on one undeniable fact—a just and lasting peace can only be achieved when Palestinians are granted their rightful state.
