A powerful bloc of more than a dozen Arab and Muslim-majority countries has released a unified declaration, strongly criticizing new Israeli legislation designed to formally absorb sections of the occupied West Bank.

The proposed laws, which recently passed an initial reading in the Israeli parliament, seek to extend Israeli sovereignty over strategic zones. These areas include the settlement bloc of Ma'ale Adumim and additional territories located in East Jerusalem.

A Unified Front of Criticism

The joint statement was backed by nations such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Malaysia. They were joined by major regional bodies, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Together, they labeled the legislative effort a flagrant breach of established international law.

The coalition's declaration specifically points out that the planned annexation directly violates United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334. This resolution explicitly forbids the expansion of Israeli settlements in territories captured during the 1967 war.

Calls for International Intervention

In response to the proposed laws, the coalition is pressing the international community to implement swift and concrete measures. The goal of this diplomatic push is to stop the enactment of these laws and to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people's rights.

The Israeli initiative has also drawn sharp criticism from the United States. U.S. Vice President JD Vance publicly disparaged the move, characterizing it as a "stupid political stunt" and an "insult," thereby signaling a clear American opposition to the annexation plans.
