Jamaica is facing an unprecedented humanitarian emergency after Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, struck the island on October 28, 2025.
The hurricane left behind extensive damage, entire neighborhoods leveled, communication lines down, and thousands of residents displaced. Power outages and flooding have made access to food, clean water, and shelter increasingly difficult. With a national disaster declared, communities are in dire need of immediate relief.
The organization's efforts go beyond meeting basic needs. By focusing on both immediate assistance and long-term recovery, HHRD aims to help families rebuild their homes and restore stability after the devastation. Continued support from donors and volunteers remains crucial as recovery efforts expand in the weeks ahead.
Drawing on that experience, HHRD is now extending the same compassion and commitment to the people of Jamaica, standing with them in recovery, rebuilding, and renewal.
