Science in Quran Series: Sunshine and Iron
This series of lectures starts with verse 78:13 about the sun being a blazing lamp, and traces one of mankind’s most fascinating intellectual journeys: trying to understand where sunshine comes from.
The purpose is several fold. First, we likely take sunshine for granted, and we hope that by tracing this intellectual journey and understanding the intricacy of the science involved, we come to a deeper appreciation of both sunshine and the verses about the sun.
We also see unexpected relationships between this verse and our previous results from Einstein’s Relativity, as well as with other verses, such as 71:16, which explores the difference between sunlight and moonlight.
A truly unexpected relationship is how this story also explains something about verse 57:25, which discusses the origin of iron.
