Not in the name of Islam

Every day, the international media present us with news about political groups bearing Islamic names and claiming they represent the Islamic faith and Muslims.
This phenomenon is not a product of some newly-born circumstances. It has been bred for many years. And today its background is being highlighted, and everybody will discover that the real objective behind this is to defame Islam and Muslims.

We have seen different types of shady groups around the world, from Spain to Germany and from the UK to the US. The Islamic X group announces its responsibility for an explosion here and Y Islam group claims an act of terror there, discrediting Islam and Muslims.

Under the banner of Islam, some suspicious fringe groups deliberately act to destabilize the security and peace in some Western countries, in which they have found shelter. It was there that they found their means to a livelihood, democracy, protection, freedom, social security, a stable life, equality with the native people, freedom of travel and work and even citizenship.

However, some bite the hand that pulled them out of the abyss to the oasis of humanity. Not only this, sometimes they disguise themselves under the cloak of Islam to run criminal gangs that relish killing, bombing and destabilizing the countries in which they have found rights that they didn't have in their home countries.

Kicked out by despots

Moreover - and again under the banner of Islam - some of those who were deprived of freedom of speech in their native countries do not think twice before savaging constitutional systems of governance in western countries they have adopted as home.

They forget how they were kicked out of their home countries by despots, and abuse the atmosphere of liberty in the west. They try to destroy the same principles that have given them the freedom of expression, and respect for their civil rights.

All this is always done in the name of Islam, but the faith has nothing to do with the suicidal criminals and enemies of life. These enemies of humanity claim that the carnage and the murders in different places around the world are acts of "martyrdom". How can anyone believe taking human life, which is sanctified by Islam and all other faiths, is an act of martyrdom?

Based on what right, law or principle do these criminals justify their crimes in the name of Islam? For whose benefit do they commit these crimes? Whom do they serve by discrediting Islam? Who is the mastermind behind this orchestrated, grand conspiracy against Islam and Muslims?

We only know the names of these groups when they take responsibility for their crimes. But who is moving the strings from behind the curtains, from the ugly dim rooms?

All of us have an interest in finding the answer. We, Muslims, will not accept this abuse of our great faith. We have nothing to do with these groups.

Islam is a religion of openness, tolerance and compassion. Islam strictly outlaws any aggression against life and property. Terror and vandalism are deeply abhorred by Islam. There is no compulsion in Islam, which protects the rights, lives, values and security of all people.

Rhetoric

These are the principles of Islam. They are clear in every Islamic text and in every Muslim's soul. They are the basis for every ideological education. And the Islamic rhetoric of extremist groups is no more than lies - the lies of hypocrites full of hatred and against the very essence of our faith. We don't know where these people come from or how they are spreading their activities. But we are fully aware that their objective is to defame Islamic culture. The faith promoted by these mercenaries has nothing to do with the Islamic faith.

The phenomenon of abusing the name of Islam must be vigorously dealt with. It is a matter of primary concern. Governments must take action, even if this means preventing the use of Islamic names for any political or even business activities. Things must be rectified. Islam's name must not be unconsciously used, even by banks and other businesses.

How can companies and businesses work under Islamic names while nobody knows for sure how they are run? I don't want to discredit anyone, but Islam must be above this politicization and commercialization. This is the responsibility of Arabs and Muslims and nobody else. We must take up the responsibility of preventing this daily abuse of our faith.

I would like to believe this but the evidence does not back this up for example .....

Mr ul-Haq told the Pakistani parliament recently
"The West is accusing Muslims of extremism and terrorism. If someone exploded a bomb on his body he would be right to do so unless the British government apologises and withdraws the 'sir' title." ( Incidentially his comment just proves the accusation )

or the fatwa declared by Imam Khomeini ........

" have been declared MADHUR EL DAM, (those whose blood must be shed). I call on all zealous Muslims to execute them quickly, wherever they find them, so that no-one will dare to insult Islam "

The above are not .... some suspicious fringe groups !

Assalamualaikum Brothers and Sisters of Islam and greeetings to all.

Let us be frank about ourselves. Yes, Islam does not condone and in fact condemn violence. In fact in the tenets of the Quran, Muslims are to have a strong relationship with GOD, in that HE is the One only GOD to be worship.

But there is also a relationship that must exist in harmony, i.e. one with fellow humans. By the look of history, the past generations of Muslims had been the show case of compassion, they protected the Jews for 50 generatins during the Inquisition. It is the teachings in the Quran to respect and recognise the rights of non Muslims, either their lives or property. And Muslim rulers in the hey days were excellent example of these. They administered and brought new chapters of civilization to what was once Dark Europe.

But now as it is, Muslims need to constantly remind themselves or perhaps ponder, why were there violence every where ? But having said that, a caution is necessary, the so called powers that be are not free from faults and liabilities as well. For decades and generations, the Palestinians had been living in refugee camps, driven from their homes, looted of their belongings. The world media mainstream had painted the worst pictures as well, on the Muslims. But neither was the PLO of any great significance, they propounded and believe in nationalism as the basis of their struggle. Islam was not used as a forefront of the cause of struggle, that's the error.

Muslims countries ( most of them ) were ruled by dictators who were either blind nationalist or socialist. And they too oppressed their own people. Under all guises and excuses. Thus it is not uncommon to see Muslims despising their own rulers, because the Islamic principles were not the main " grund norm " of the constitution and laws of those countries. What I am propounding here is that while we should be vigilant of the agendas of the powers that be, we should also be mindful of oursel

I read the article and agree with it wholeheartedly. And a previous commenter is also right that it is unneccessary to ALWAYS apologize for criminal acts of these so called "muslims". What I am most appalled by is the website that our prejudice brother Lance cited, filled with anti-islamic hogwash. I know that there are a billion websites like this but to mislead people by titling it thereligionofpeace.com is ridiculous. The webmasters of the website are exactly whom Allah speaks of in the Quran: those whom have veils cast over their eyes and ears with no way of knowing the truth to redeem themselves.

Salam Alaikum,
I have heard plenty of leaders denouncing terrorism. My brother, who is not Muslim, told me something over the phone. He stated, "there is bad people in every religion, but the media pumps it up whenever it is a Muslim who does something." I do not go along with violence practiced in any religion. But, coming from the South (North Carolina) did the Christians ever apologize for the hundreds of killings that the Klans did in the name of Christianity? Did the Catholics apologize for Jeffery Dommer and his serial killings? Did White America ever apologize for the slavery they endured on Blacks for hundreds of years? Get the point?

Salam Alaikum to all the Believing Muslims

The unfortunate destruction of the Shia Shrine in Sammarra Iraq is nothing but a deliberate attempt to stir and cause sectarian violence among the Muslims. The enemies of Islam have already succeeded in causing the same kind of dissention among Muslims in different countries.

This is right, I am sick and tired to hear muslims treated as barbarians, terrorists and third world situation. People look now at this beautiful religion as a religion of violence, which is completely the opposite. But we have, as muslim, the duty to correct this, not just sit, and watch it.

ONE MUSLIM FROM USA said:
There is no need for me or any muslim to denounce any of
these acts since it is the military-industrial-congressional-
media complex that associated them WITH islam.
There is no relation to islam other than what one accepts
and to have to apologize for every tom, dick and harry
means we have accepted this false premise.
Every vaguely muslim human being does what he does
because he believes it is compatible and good, i.e. is in
accordance with Islam and the will of God. That includes
political activism, or anti-political activism, or fighting some
fight, etc. etc.
They all use their judgement, and then call that judgement
islam.
Do Christians have to apologize for Hitler? Do Jews have to
apologize for Israeli crimes even if they don't support israel?
Of course not, except to a most ignorant public.
We must educate the public not cower to their insecurities
and myths.

Your posting lacks the potential for a response, but your 'citation' is even more profoundly inapt, and as such requires interjection(s). Considering the mass-fabrication of material found on that site, the total distortions of contexts and facts, I am pleasantly surprised that you took time to write on the website as opposed to proposing a nuclear solution (ie. annihilation) for all muslims.

There is an urgent need to draw the attention of Palestinian brothers of both Fatah and Hamas to stop the carnage being carried in the name of political differences. It is so shameful they are engaged in killing one another for nothing.Let not their differences lead them to unnecessary violence due to love of useless power. They should remember killing one another can bring the wrath of Allah leading to damnation in Jahanamm. So what they are doing is not in the name of Islam they are shaming to all of us and the enemies are happy.Do the Israelis do this kind of thing it is terrible.Enough is enough they must be reminded of Allah and his Prophet not Hamas of Fatah political differences which led to this carnage which is unfortunate.
