Start of Ramadan 2021 (1442 AH)
Arabia
The holy month would begin from Tuesday, April 13, 2021 in Saudi Arabia.
The moon crescent, which would mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, was not spotted in Saudi Arabia on Sunday evening. Therefore, Monday, April 12, would be the last day of the month of Shaaban, and the holy month would begin from Tuesday, April 13.

North America
According to Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) first day of fasting will be on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
The Fiqh Council of North America recognizes astronomical calculation as an acceptable Shar’i method for determining the beginning of Lunar months including the months of Ramadan and Shawwal. FCNA uses the criteria of the European Council of Fatwa and Research (ECFR), which are that somewhere on the globe, at the sunset, the elongation should be at least 8 degrees and the moon should be at least 5 degrees above the horizon. If these conditions are met, the new crescent will be visible somewhere on earth. Hence the new lunar month will start the next day, otherwise, it will start on the day following the next day.
On the basis of this method the dates of Ramadan and Eidul Fitr for the year 1441 AH are established as follows:
Ramadan 1442 AH:
The Astronomical New Moon is on Monday, April 12, 2021, at 2:33 Universal Time. On that day, everywhere in North and South America at sunset, the elongation is at least 8 degrees and the moon is at least 5 degrees above the sun. Therefore, the first day of Ramadan 1442 is on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, insha’Allah. Tarawih prayer will start on Monday night April 12.
Eidul-Fitr 1442 AH:
The Astronomical New Moon is on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 19:02 Universal Time. On that day there is no place on earth where at sunset the elongation is 8 degrees and the moon is 5 degrees above the sun. Therefore Shawwal 1442 cannot start the next day. Hence the first day of Shawwal is on Thursday, May 13, 2021, insha’Allah. Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

Europe
According to European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR) first day of fasting will be Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
Accurate astronomical calculations regarding the crescent moon of Ramadan for the year 1442 AH confirm that the conjunction will be at 02 and 31 minutes according to UTC (GMT) on Monday (12) April 2021 AD corresponding to 30 Shaban 1442 AH, which corresponds to 05:31 according to the time local to Makkah. The crescent can be seen in many countries of the world with the naked eye, or with a telescope after sunset. Therefore, the first blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1442 AH, insha'Allah, will be on Tuesday 13 April 2021 AD.

Australia
According to Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) the first day of fasting will be Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
The sun will set on Monday the 12th of April at 5.36pm (Sydney local time) and the moon will appear on the same day after sunset for 17 minutes until 5.53pm where it will disappear thereafter from the horizon. In the city of Perth, Western Australia, the sun will set on Monday at 5.59pm (Perth local time) and the moon will appear on the same day after sunset for 19 minutes until 6.18pm where it will disappear thereafter from the horizon. This allows for ample time to sight the moon under normal conditions with the absence of all that hinders the moon from being sighted. Therefore the Holy Month of Ramadan for this year (1442H - 2021) will commence on Tuesday, 13th of April 2021.

You who believe, fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may be mindful of God.
Fast for a specific number of days, but if one of you is ill, or on a journey, on other days later. For those who can fast only with extreme difficulty, there is a way to compensate–– feed a needy person. But if anyone does good of his own accord, it is better for him, and fasting is better for you, if only you knew.
It was in the month of Ramadan that the Quran was revealed as guidance for mankind, clear messages giving guidance and distinguishing between right and wrong. So any one of you who is present that month should fast, and anyone who is ill or on a journey should make up for the lost days by fasting on other days later. God wants ease for you, not hardship. He wants you to complete the prescribed period and to glorify Him for having guided you, so that you may be thankful. ( Quran 2:183-185 )
