Dhul-Hijjah is the twelfth and final month in the Islamic calendar. It is the month in which the Hajj pilgrimage takes place.

Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court announced that the day of Arafat will be on Monday, 19th July 2021 and the first day of Eid Al-Adha will be on Tuesday, 20th July 2021 (source: Saudi Gazette).

The astronomical new moon is on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1:16 UT. Sunday, July 11, 2021 is expected to be the 1st day of Dhul Hijjah 1442. The day of Arafah – the main day of Hajj – is expected to be on Monday, July 19, 2021 and so the Eidul Adha 1442 is expected on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

Following its adopted current criteria for Eidul Adha, the Fiqh Council of North America announces that the final determination of the date of Eidul Adha will be contingent on the announcement by the Hajj authorities in Makkah of the day of  ‘Arafah, and Eidul Adha will be on the day following the day of Arafah (source: Fiqh Council of North America).

We pray that all the pilgrims will have a blessed and safe Hajj. We also pray that all the Muslims will benefit from these sacred days by reflecting and embracing the lessons of commitment and sacrifice from the life of Prophet Abraham (pbuh).

(O Muhammad) Proclaim the Hajj (Pilgrimage) to all people. They will come to you on foot and on every kind of swift mount, emerging from every deep mountain pass. Quran 22:27

Ibn Abbas  reported that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to God than these ten days (first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.)”
