Pro-Hijab Ad Pulled After Backlash in France

A pro-hijab campaign endorsed by the Council of Europe has been pulled following an official complaint from France. The ad, which promoted the freedom to wear the Islamic headscarf, was called ‘dangerous’ by politicians and seen to go against ‘French values’.

The Council of Europe is the continent's leading human rights organisation. It includes 47 member states, 27 of which are members of the European Union.
