Famed American rapper, DJ, and record producer Jonathan H. Smith, popularly known by his stage name Lil Jon, has embraced Islam on Friday, March 15 at the King Fahad Mosque in Culver City, California.

Jon, known for his energetic style and catchphrases like “Yeah!” and “Okay”, gained popularity in the early 2000s with hits like “Get Low” and “Turn Down for What.”

Jon is the second famed American to accept Islam in the first week of Ramadan 2024, after US writer and activist Shaun King.

Jonathan H. Smith (born 1972), better known by his stage name Lil Jon, is an American DJ, record producer, and rapper. He was instrumental in the commercial breakthrough of the hip hop subgenre crunk in the early 2000s, and is often credited as a progenitor of the genre. As a producer, Lil Jon has produced several Billboard Hot 100 hit singles including "Yeah!" which won Lil Jon a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Performance as part of his five Grammy Award nominations [ Read More at Wikipedia ]
