U.S. MUSLIMS CONDEMN KILLINGS AT CHURCH IN PAKISTAN

Several prominent national American Muslim groups today expressed their "deepest sorrow" at the brutal killing of 16 worshipers at St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church in Pakistan on Sunday.

In a joint statement, the groups wrote: "We extend heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. We are greatly distressed that some lawless elements have violated the sanctity of a place of worship and the rights of minorities in Pakistan. Freedom of worship is a basic right in Islam, and protection of religious minorities and houses of worship is a fundamental obligation of Muslim governments. We support the government of Pakistan in its stated commitment to apprehend the criminals and punish them according to the law."

I am a Christian from a Muslim nation and can confidently say that basically Muslims are not trouble makers. In fact most Muslims here generally are peace loving people, as it is with people of other religious beliefs. However there exist certain groups influenced by devaited teachings that resort to methods that no civilised person would approve of.

I am also troubled that the present war led by US and UK against the Talibans may be misinterpreted as one led by a Christian nation over an Islamic one.

As for the victims of war, I look at them not as Muslims but purely as human beings, the same flesh and blood I am made of.

However, we need to realize that a bunch of criminal bandits are stealing and raping Islam for their personal gains.

Please follow up by some other forum to address the wide spread use of Islamic ideals by criminals

This incident was inhuman, and there is no justification for it..I am extremely depressed because of this incident in Pakistan. The government must mobilize its law enforcement in tracking and apprehending the criminal and put them to trial and give them the severest of punishment, for massacaring innocent people..
