Is it the Fiqh council of North America or ISNA Fiqh council ? Most prominent members are members of ISNA.

The Islamic Fiqh Council of America should consist scholars that represent the wide variety of muslims and the different groups in America.
The Islamic Fiqh Council of North America should have one scholar from ICNA , one from MAS, one from Jammat wal Sunnah, one from Tabliqi Jamat, one from African Muslim population like Warith Deen Muhammad, Hilal moonsighting committee, Shia council and other prominent groups. This would better represent the muslim population here and decision made by majority vote will be accepted by all Inshallah.

The quran also says seek knowledge, go with the worldly and religion...strange enough "when science and technology reach top of the mountain they'll realize "religion" had already been sitting there", my point is islam covers all aspects of life...why indulge in should've, would've and could'ves? quran answers all n every question our hear and mind ask....please don't make religion so complex and complicated.,,.for years i have followed the weather channel 23 for lunar calendar..simply have heartfelt "faith" in allah and the quran, he knows our "intent" and that is all what counts (inshallah)allah is most merciful, most gracious....i am in favour of this change...thankyou n god bless...

The new way for a new moon sounds good when it talks about unifying the muslim ummah but there is something scary about relying soley on mathmatical calculations by a computer to determine such important and sacred actions by muslims. I guess I imagine that sometime in the future a muslim will ask, "How does the computer calculate the times for prayer and why some months are 29 days and others 30?" And another muslim will reply, "I don't know, we go by the calander" just as an electric magnetic pulse from the sun has covered the entire earth and all computer chips are fried and they are standing there looking at each asking, "What to do?"

I think it's really wrong to say it's Ramadan without sighting the

Whatever the Prophet gives you take it whatever he forbids you avoid it. Another Verse of the Quran Say if you love Allah follow me he will love you and forgive your sins,Allah is forgiving Merciful.Allah has given us eyes he has not made us blind why can't we look for the Moon as Rasulullah the Khulafur Rashideen and all the Righteous people did in the last 1400 years. Why should some people try to change our way the way of the Prophet and all pious Muslims.Who are they to change this system are they better than the all these Muslims.well as far as we concerned we will not start fasting until we see the Moon if it is cloudy our prophet (S.A.W) asked us to count the dates after 30 days we start or break our fast. That is all simple and some intellectuals think they can bring new thing and change our way.In Sha allah the Ummah will cling to the way of the Prophet not the mordern way of the astromers unless we are blinds then somebody can guide us. Allah has all given us good eye sight why can't we use it if they have problem with their eye sights our so called mordern Muftis let others look for the Moon on their behalf rather than relying on their inaccurate calculation. In sha Allah no body can take us away from the way of our beloved Prophet (S.A.W)which has been established and will last up to the Day of Judgement.May Allah keep us on guidance up to our last breath.
