President Obama's message on Hajj and Eid-ul-Adha

Pilgrims from over 160 countries, including nearly 20,000 Americans, have gathered in Saudi Arabia for the annual performance of the Hajj.  They have assembled in Mina and will travel to Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mecca to offer the rites of pilgrimage. On Friday, Muslims around the world will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha.  The President issued the following statement today marking the beginning of Hajj and the upcoming Eid holiday:

Michelle and I would like to send our best wishes to all those performing Hajj this year, and to Muslims in America and around the world who are celebrating Eid-ul-Adha.  The rituals of Hajj and Eid-ul-Adha both serve as reminders of the shared Abrahamic roots of three of the world's major religions.

During Hajj, the world's largest and most diverse gathering, three million Muslims from all walks of life - including thousands of American Muslims - will stand in prayer on Mount Arafat.  The following day, Muslims around the world will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha and distribute food to the less fortunate to commemorate Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son out of obedience to God.

This year, I am pleased that the Department of Health and Human Services has partnered with the Saudi Health Ministry to prevent and limit the spread of H1N1 during Hajj.  Cooperating on combating H1N1 is one of the ways we are implementing my administration's commitment to partnership in areas of mutual interest.

On behalf of the American people, we would like to extend our greetings during this Hajj season - Eid Mubarak.

I strongly believe that this message is a true and a good move from president Obama towards all the Muslims of the world. This may not represent the entire American people opinion, but surly it is a positive step towards building a more positive and friendly relationship between the two worlds and also acknowledging the strength of the Muslims presence in the world and the peaceful message they spread to all Human kind. Change may start, but it takes more than one night to complete.

Eid Mubarak to all. I couldn't agree more with James. He is soooo right! Obama is no better than Bush whenever it comes down to Muslims. Nothing has changed, just a different face, and different words. Its amazing how fooled some of these people are. My friends from Pakistain would laugh at this Message. Can't we be more about posting things about our Religion? Something that will help us on the road to Jennah, instead of hearing from Obama who could careless about Muslims?

Is your greeting sincere Mr Obama? I dont think so. You are muslim land stealing Oil, raping our women, killing our people, waging war on islam that you call "war on terror" and still be a sincere partner with muslims? No. As long as your troops remain on the land of islam. and your proxy war in Pakistan, and your injustices against palestinians and your unconditional support for State terrorism that you call Israel, there is no need to welcome your statements until you renunce violence extremism against our brothers and sisters in the middle east, Africa, Asia and every part of the world where muslims are. As long as you keep your troops on our land, it's hypocritical on your part to pretend as if you are muslims wellwisher. Inshallah, if you dont removed your filty troops from the land of islam, you will continue to face wrath of Allah plus history will not recomend you for good like your predeccesor. It's much better for you to listen now than later.

We are impressed with President Obama's ommitment to justice and fairness and is also a sign of sincerity.Up to going to the Press we have not heard of any Non-Muslim leader who has sent such message of hope and peace to the Muslim Ummah. As the Prophet said one who is not thankful to people is not thankful to Allah. Please keep it up as this gives millions of Muslims hope.We pray also Allah give you guidance to continue to be fair to everyone irrespective of their religious belief or creed hopefully you get the courage to help solve the Palestinian/Israeli conflict.Again we are highly impressed with your message which coincided with the invitation by KIng Abdullah of Mrs Sarah Obamah the 87 year Kenyan to this years Hajj together with more than 2000 displaced Palestinians as reported by the Media. This will help unify the three Abrahamic Religions ie Judaism,Christianity and Islam and President Obama is becoming the bridge not only unifying the Religions but all ethnic groups white and black brown and yellow bringing the whole humanity together making them family of Allah as mentioned in Hadith. It is a wakeup call for all leaders to be fair and just the teachings of all religions.
