COMMENTARY on 4:55
Mustafa Khattab:

Translation:
Yet some believed in him while others turned away from him.20 Hell is sufficient as a torment!
Commentary:
20   i.e., Abraham (ﷺ) or Muḥammad (ﷺ).

 

A. Yusuf Ali:

Translation:
Some of them believed, and some of them averted their faces from him: And enough is Hell for a burning fire. 577
Commentary:

577  Envy is like the eternal fire, which is in itself a hell.

 

Muhammad Asad:

Translation:
and among them are such as [truly] believe in him, 72 and among them are such as have turned away from him. And nothing could be as burning as [the fire of] hell:
Commentary:
72  I.e., in Abraham - implying that they are faithful to his message. It is to be borne in mind that the Prophet Muhammad, too, was a direct-line descendant of Abraham, whose message is confirmed and continued in the Qur’an.
