Comparative Study
   57:23  

1  ˹We let you know this˺ so that you neither grieve over what you have missed nor boast over what He has granted you. For Allah does not like whoever is arrogant, boastful—  Dr. Mustafa Khattab

2  [Know this,] so that you may not despair over whatever [good] has escaped you nor exult [unduly] over whatever [good] has come to you: for, God does not love any of those who, out of self-conceit, act in a boastful manner –   Muhammad Asad

3  That you may not sorrow over what eludes you, nor exult over what He has given you. God does not love the proud snob.  Talal Itani

4  (We do so) that you may not grieve over the loss you suffer, nor exult over what He gave you. Allah does not love the vainglorious, the boastful,  Maududi

5  In order that you may not be sad over matters that you fail to get, nor rejoice because of that which has been given to you. And Allah likes not prideful boasters.  Muhsin Khan
