I am Finding Islam
Speaks to me ... What I have read of the Quran fills me with love and peace
renewed ...
Can you imagine a better way of sharing the
spirit of Islam with someone than to let the Quran speak to them?

The man who thought he saw the 'New Moon' |
|
Once, in 'Umar's time, when the
Month of Fast came round, some people ran to the top of a hill, In order to have
the luck of seeing the new moon; 1 and
one of them said, "Look, there is the new moon, O 'Umar!"
As 'Umar did not see the moon in
the sky, he said, "This moon has risen from thy imagination. Otherwise,
since I am a better observer of the heavens than you are; why do I not see the
pure crescent? Wet thy hand and rub it on your eyebrow, and then try looking for
the new moon."

Building
Bridges with Christians |
|
With nearly one billion followers each,
Islam and Christianity are major religions that influence the thinking and
values of over 40 percent of the World population. While there are theological
differences, some of which might be significant, there are nonetheless other
important areas of belief that are shared by both communities: belief in Allah,
or God; belief in revelation, in prophets, in the Holy Books of Allah; in the
life hereafter and in a divinely inspired moral code organizing and regulating
human life during our earthly journey to eternity.

MUSLIM-CHRISTIAN DIALOGUE
For the Muslim, constructive dialogue is
not only permitted, it is commendable. In the Qur'an we read, 'Say, 'O people of
the book' (a term which particularly refers to Jews and Christians) 'come to
common terms as between us and you: that we worship none but Allah; that we
associate no partners with Him (in His powers and divine attributes); that we
erect not from among ourselves lords and patrons other than Allah.' If then they
turn back say you 'Bear witness that we are Muslims.' (Bowing) to the will of
God." (al-i-Imran;3:64)

Plotting life expectancy against income |

In this spectacular section of 'The Joy of Stats'
Hans Rosling tells the story of the world in 200 countries over 200 years using 120,000 numbers - in just four minutes. Plotting life expectancy against income for every country since 1810, Hans shows how the world we live in is radically different from the world most of us imagine.

Process of thinking
People who have no hold over their process of thinking are likely to be ruined by liberty of thought.
If thought is immature, liberty of thought becomes a method of converting men into animals.
Muhammad Iqbal (b. 1877–d. 1938) was a preeminent Muslim poet, thinker, and statesman of India. He was educated at Lahore, Cambridge, and Munich. His eloquent writings in Urdu, Persian, and English were aimed at reconstructing Islamic thought in the modern age.
