Assalamu Aleikum,

My name is David Smith and I came to Islam due to the kindness of Muslims in the aftermath of 9/11. I am an avid user and supporter of IslamiCity and invite you to donate to this cause in battling misinformation spread by Islamophobes.

I was not a Muslim when 9/11 happened, but I fit the profile of an Arab-Muslim because of my skin tone, large beard, and where I lived. I found out that certain people wanted to harm me physically. I had a conversation with someone at work who revealed that he was Muslim and that my Muslim coworkers had been looking out for me. They watched over me and never asked for anything in return. They just cared for me.

"I love that IslamiCity keeps the flame alive and remembering those whose lives were changed irrevocably, whether they were non-muslims or American-Muslims in the aftermath of 9/11. As you may know, IslamiCity addresses Islamophobia directly. It doesn’t shy away from it. IslamiCity has filled its ranks with authors and Muslims who genuinely understand what it means to think deeply about your faith and circumstances and the world around you."

It’s incredibly heartening to see the types of articles and media that IslamiCity produces to address Islamophobia. It allowed me to investigate Islam safely with fact-checked accuracy. After all, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was known as the truthful one, so we should always strive in our own lives to be as honest as possible, and for the heart of IslamiCity is that truth.

Thanks to you, IslamiCity is one of the most extensive resources on the internet on Islam. It helps to get the message out that we belong here in America and belong in the world. I feel like it’s a space, whereas as a Muslim, I can breathe. I hope that IslamiCity continues far into the future.

Please support IslamiCity clarify misinformation and ignorance about Islam and Muslims.

David Smith (new Muslim)

The Power of the Night of Power!
Laylat el Kadr, or the Night of Power, have you ever wondered where its power comes from?

Ten-Point Plan For What To Do On The Night Of Power
We prepare ourselves so well for Laylat’l-Qadr in terms of what it means to us and when it will be, but when we get there many of us don’t know what to actually do on the night itself and achieve the success being offered!

Maximize the Last 10 Days of Ramadan
Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Power) is described in the Quran as, "better than a thousand months" (97:3). Any action done on this night such as reciting the Quran, remembering Allah, etc. is better than acting for one thousand months which do not contain the night of Qadr.

The Secret of the Night of Power
As creatures aware of our own existence, we human beings have a direct responsibility for our survival on earth. For this reason, each individual needs to know where to obtain whatever is necessary to ensure this survival.

Categories of Zakat Recipients in Our Times
All of the world’s major religions contain some form of almsgiving, but Zakat has a special significance for Muslims. It is mandatory for all Muslims who are financially able to give a minimum of 2.5% of their accumulated wealth for the benefit of the poor. The word Zakat means ‘purification’ or ‘growth’.
