Today, so many families mourn the loss of their loved ones at the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Shanksville, PA, but there are also many other tragedies that ensued and so many other families domestically and internationally that suffer from the weight of 9/11 and the decisions that followed. How do we remember ALL the lives lost since that fateful Tuesday morning?
The scars of Sep 11, 2001 are laid bare for us to see in the images of the fallen cities in Afghanistan. The war on terror was abandoned in the final hours of August 31 as the last flight out of Kabul took off. Afghans are left without a flag, a government, and an ally in the United States.
Today we remember, as we should, the lives lost on this day twenty years ago whose names are etched in marble around the waterfalls in lower Manhattan. But we should also honor the memories of those names we will never know who lost their lives in a war with only chaos to show for it.
IslamiCity is the oldest Islamic internet resource, since 1995, giving unbiased coverage of the events on 9/11 and giving Muslims a platform to denounce the actions of a few on that day. We continue to be seekers of truth and understanding when the world devolves to finger-pointing and hate.
We shall never forget the events of that day and we stand in solidarity with the rest of humanity.
Sincerely,
Mohammed Abdul Aleem, CEO
