Ayaz Amir is a prominent Pakistani journalist, columnist and a senior politician. He became famous as a columnist for the newspaper Dawn. But in 2008 after he was elected to the National Assembly, his column stopped appearing in Dawn as the newspaper cited it as a conflict of interest, asking him to choose between being a politician and commenting on current affairs. Consequently, Ayaz began to write for The News International.
