Professor Sayed Hassan Akhlaq specializes in philosophy and religion. He is involved in inter and intra-faith dialogue, comparative study, and dialogue among civilizations. He contributed to academia worldwide, including in Canada, the U.S., South Korea, Greece, Russia, the U.K., Finland, Iran, and Afghanistan through publications and talks. In addition, he gives scholarly lectures for religious communities. He earned a Ph.D. in philosophy and also completed his Islamic theological studies (Hawzeh Elmieh) in Mashhad. Dr. Akhlaq published five books (in Iran and Afghanistan), written in Farsi. His last volume “The Secular and the Sacred: Complementary and/or Conflictual?” was co-edited by John Hogan and published by the Council for Research in Values & Philosophy (2017). Akhlaq has been affiliated with Princeton University, Boston University, Catholic University of America, and George Washington University. He published several op-eds in HuffingtonPost and OpenDemocracy websites.
