Privacy of a single woman according to Islam

   Hello everyone good day to you all, 

I am a single 24 year old woman and i live in a joint family, where I share a room with my brother who's 22. My question is since situation has compelled me to live like this, where my privacy is compromised greatly mostly in relation to personal hygiene and grooming, where even locking the door for more than 10 minutes causes a ruckus since someone has to come in for one thing or the other, can any one in regards to islam tell me what are the rulings on this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
