Hi everyone, it’s obvious that replacing plastic bags and straws by using environmentally-friendly ingredients are not enough. So, what else can we do to improve the plastic waste figure?

completely banning single use plastics can to some extend help. Recycling is otherwise best option.

Recycling is not viable for people raised in a single-use lifestyle. I've seen overconsumption of eco bags because people don't actually bring them with them when they shop. Paper bags are terrible alternatives too because they consume trees and are expensive for the business owners in the long run. Single-use packaging made from corn starch is one of the most renewable and biodegradable options I can think of.

Make people stop using any kind of plastic bags. It would be even better to make people think they should stop using single bags.

I get what you're saying—just replacing plastic bags and straws isn't enough. I’ve been trying to cut down on single-use plastics myself by using reusable containers and bags wherever I can. It’s also been eye-opening to look into better packaging options when shopping, especially for things like food. One thing I think could help a lot is getting better recycling systems in place, and maybe even pushing companies to take more responsibility for the plastic they use. It’s all about making small changes that add up, but it also needs to come from the top too. |
