Sorry it took me a while to get back with you on this. Islamic view is straight and simple: As you stated yourself that you do not believe that babies will go to hell, and that's what I said, meaning that babies have no sin on them, we are born without sin. It is when we are able to learn, and those who teach us, our parents who make us a Jew, a Christian, a Muslim, a Hindu, a fire worshiper or whatever. At the age of responsibility, when one is an adult, regardless of what one's parents have made a person, it becomes that person's responsibility to correct their course much like people mentioned in the stories of the Bible and the Quran. We know we can choose to do good or bad, that is a choice we are given, and it shows we are in a state of test, we are being tested till the end of our term. As we grow and learn the enjoyments of this life, we learn things we did not know as a child, like being selfish, being mean, being greedy, being disobedient, being aggressive. This shows that we do not stay the same as when we were little (innocent). And clearly as our strength increases, so does our ability to do wrong. And since we all know we can choose between right and wrong, it is now obvious that we basically have our destiny in our own hands. Particularly when our maker has told us that if we do things right as He has prescribed, we will be successful in achieving a pleasant hereafter, otherwise we will be lost. When you said in response to me, "As a Muslim, you believe the 7 things you stated will grant you salvation. Essentially, you believe your works will save you." I think, even after reading it all, you missed the point by saying that "works will save you". No, it is the Mercy of Allah that will save any from the hell fire. All the prophets came to teach one thing, that your God is one God, and obey His commands and God will give you Paradise. As a Muslim I believe that to be true. Of course my works are not the only reason that I will deserve Heaven, rather it is the degree of my sincerely loving and obeying God, with all my heart and all my self (Taqwa, God conscience) is pleasing to my maker who is aware of everything I do and everything I think and intend. And when your maker is pleased with you, His Mercies are there for you, His forgiveness is one of His Mercies. I would suggest you read the Quran, there are numerous verses describing God's mercy and power. It is the love of God, and fear of accountability that drives a Muslim, a true believe like myself to only accept that can be proved to be true, and by not denying the truth. Because God is ever watching and All knowing. God only loves the truth, nothing else. None has power to interfere us from the Mercy and Forgiveness of God. One of the attributes of God is " Al-Ghaffar" meaning " the Forgiving. God is forgiving to those who seriously repent realize their mistake and do not go back to repeat it. It is funny you say that the Christian God unlike Muslim God is holy. Dear friend you only repeat what you are taught by people like yourself. Use your own mind dear, there is only One God, and of course God is Holy. There is no Muslim God, Hindu God, Christian God and so one, those are people's utterances. There is only One God, God of All that there is. And let me tell you it is not a blood thirsty God as you put it. There is nothing beyond God's reach, if God decide to forgive me or you and grant any Paradise, is there anyone that can interfere. But God is Just, He has given us a time, a date, we cannot move it back or forward, only He knows when each has our time to return to Him, and then He will show you and me all what we did. Make the most of this opportunity my friend instead of repeating what others told you, use your mind while you can. Hasan Edited by honeto - 25 November 2014 at 3:22pm |

The friends of God will certainly have nothing to fear, nor will they be grieved. Al Quran 10:62

Greetings The Saint, but it is not uncharacteristic of the almighty Creator.
The almighty Creator, whether the God from the Judeo scriptures, or allah from the qur'an... can come across as petty and jealous, and often unmerciful and unforgiving, raining down punishment when His anger overwhelms Him. The almighty Creator sends blessing and punishment as He sees fit, doesn't He? The almighty Creator is often fed up(loses patience) with man isn't He? The God of the Judeo scriptures seems to be a God of chances. The allah of the qur'an seems to be unforgiving. I know that the words say 'He is oft forgiving', but that is not what I see in the scriptures of the qur'an. I see this as a half-truth put into the qur'an to mislead and misguide. asalaam, Caringheart Edited by Caringheart - 23 November 2014 at 11:23am |

Kingskid, on the issue of 6/7 year old breaking a glass of a window playing ball, that is not a sin. It is a behavior issue or could also fall under accident if not an intentional thing. On the last question you asked, let me first say this, it is insane to think that a new born baby in his/her mother's arms who totally depends on her, only know to coo and poo is born with sin on his/her head and is condemned to hell as you believe. In Islam, I believe that my salvation depends on believing in these clearly simple things as taught by the Quran: 1-believe in One God, God of Adam, Noah, Moses, Abraham, David, Jesus and Mohammed (pbut) and all that exists. 2-God is not born, nor does He has offspring. 3-Jesus was a man, God's prophet and servant. 4-to believe in Quran as the Final Testament and apply it to my everyday life. And that all the previous scriptures mentioned in it are from God each for it's respective time. 5-To do good, and stay away from bad as declared in Quran. 6-To Worship God and none else beside Him. 7-To continuously seek God's forgiveness as we all do mistakes knowingly and unknowingly. God is Merciful and Forgiving. The only sin He will never forgive (unless the person seeks forgiveness while alive) is worshiping anyone or anything other than our Creator, God. Thank God, as a Muslim I qualify for His Mercy and Forgiveness. Hasan Greetings and peace to you, Hasan. The Christian view on accountability is similar to Muslim teaching for a child as far as holding a child responsible for his behavior. However, that does not negate man's innate inclination to sin. If that were not the case and man is born pure, there'd be no need "to do good and stay away from bad as declared in the Quran." It would be as natural as breathing. Whether one be Christian, Jew, Muslim, atheist, or whatever, we are all cut from the same cloth and have it within us to do wrong. Christians do not believe babies are condemned to hell. Only God knows when someone reaches the age where he/she is accountable to Him for their actions. As a Muslim, you believe the 7 things you stated will grant you salvation. Essentially, you believe your works will save you. The problem with that is how can you know you have done enough? If you fall short, does that mean you are not saved? If you answer that allah is all forgiving, then why do any of those 7 things then? The Christian view, of course, is devoid of working for our salvation. If we could perform good works and earn our salvation, then our works would negate the unfathomable cost that Yeshua paid to save those who believe in Him. As the song goes, "Jesus paid it all." Indeed He did! The truth is, Hasan, man is incapable of saving himself because he could never do enough to satisfy the righteousness of God Almighty. The God Christians believe in, unlike the Muslim God, is holy and thus demands payment for sin. But because He loves His creation so much, He provided the sacrifice (Yeshua, God the Son) to be the atonement in our place. Remember what Father Abraham did? God told him to offer up his son Isaac as a sacrifice to test Abraham's obedience. When Abraham was about to do that, God provided the sacrifice Himself--the ram in the thicket. I would think that for a Muslim, fear would be the driving factor in his faith, because he would never know if he did enough good to secure his salvation, or if allah would indeed forgive the bad he did do. For the Christian, there is no license to sin (God forbid!), but there is peace and unspeakable joy in knowing that God made a way for man to be reconciled to Him through the atonement of His Son, Yeshua HaMashiach. Hallelujah! |
Greetings The Saint,I agree... I have trouble understanding this behavior of the Christ...but as all muslims believe as well... God is God, and God does as He wills to do. Am I one to question what the Almighty Creator chooses to do?asalaam and blessings,Caringheart
Greetings CH You have trouble understanding his behaviour because it is uncharacteristic of a holy man. Leave alone a Prophet of God. Muslims do believe God is God and that He does Godly things. Jesus PBUH comes across, through these words as a short-tempered man. He was rude to his mother. Please note even a so-called does not have license to misbehave. The Almighty Creator as opposed to Jesus PBUH a man, is consistent and constant in His demeanour. Merciful, kind, just and equitable. Also equanimous. |

Greetings Hasan,Don't you see? This is why Yshwe was so controversial to the Jewish leaders... He was constantly demonstrating that He Himself was above the law of humans... that He Himself was the Maker of the law.He also healed on the Sabbath, and took to eat from the fields....asalaam,CAringheart
