Thank you for your encouragement! The Arabic language is so beautiful, it makes perfect sense that Allah would reveal the Quran in it. Together we can more perfectly understand his word.

Alhamdulilah! Magicfootballer, I love you for Allah's sake and your dedication to Islam. I am also trying to do this. Arabic is so important for us. With it, we can utilize the Quran and reap the benefits of it. We can dive into the numerous chapters and actually understand word for word the miracles and true words of Allah. I wish the best< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">

Salam,
there are many of us who share your position when it comes to the language of Quran. Here are a few recommendations, based on what is affordable and doable for you. It is a fact, that unless you know Arabic, Quranic Arabic in particular, you may not be able to know the Quran fully. But those of us, like myself, who just did not learn the language of the Quran completely, it is best not to limit which translation to use. Sometimes to understand just one verse I go back and forth with several translations in order to get the true meanings behind it. So, if you can afford, get translations from several sources, also as you know to read some Arabic, read its Arabic as well. Sometimes repeating and going through translations over and and over pays off as the meanings are revealed. If you can afford, and it will be great experience as well, to visit and live for sometime in an Arabic speaking country, and study Quran. There are many converts who have done this and really done it to their own benefit. So may Allah help us all in understanding His word, Ameen. Hasan |

Brothers and sisters,
Thank you all very much for your help. Ive just looked at some of your links and already things seems much clearer. One thing, though. I was under the impression that the Quran should not be translated from Arabic because that is the language Allah spoke when he revealed it to Muhammad (PBUH). Is this true? Are the translations inferior to the Arabic Quran? |

Assalam alaikum,
For the translations of the Quran on this very site, you may go to: http://www.islamicity.com/QuranSearch/ There you may choose, how you want to read the Quran, chapter wise, search verses, search topics and words.....it is extremely helpful. I am sorry, for the other books I recommended, I could not find them online....they must be purchased. But there is yet another good book, about the Quran, by Dr. Gary Miller (a muslim revert)..."The Amazing Quran", it can be read here: http://www.ymsite.com/books/amazing_quran.htm Hope this helps.. May Allah Guide us, surely He guides whom He wills. Edited by wisdomseeker - 04 December 2009 at 4:23pm |
