It has several benefits

It also teach you to be patient

And many other stuff

You gain good deeds as long as you fast

It also has benefit on your body

I'm confused.
I spent 5 years working in North Africa and The Gulf and feel that I had a good understanding of what Islam means for the people that practice it but, I'm now more confused about what Islam is about than before spending all that time away from the UK.
I have many questions about what I see as contradictions within Islam and mean no one any offence but I am struggling to understand some of the key aspects of your religion.
As an example, as I understand it, Ramadan is a time when Muslims take time to reflect on those less fortunate and the requirements to fast during daylight hours is a way of concentrating on what it must be like not to have food and water thus giving a person an insight to what it is like to be poor. Is this correct?
Thanks.
