Hello,

I deseperately look for an iformation and don't know how to get it...

Back in 2002 I went to the Xiao Taoyuan mosque in Shanghai and I heard the imam reciting the Coran in  way I will never forget... Does someone know if the mosque has a phone number or email? I would like to know where he studied...

Thanks for your help.

to Abeer23:

I believe you understand the meaning of 'Qing Jine Si' (mosque), but the correct pinyin should be 'Qing Zheng Si', and it should be pronounced as 'Ching jen sss' .

There several mosques in Shanghai:

the largest one is the 'Xiao Tao Yuan' (Small Peach Garden) Qing Zheng Si, where the Islamic Association of Shanghai located.

Others include: Hu Shi Qing Zheng Si, by the Xi Kang Lu Road

Hong Shou Fang Qing zheng si, by the Xin Hui Lu Road.

Because of the long history of Islam in China, there are many special Chinese words for the Islamic terminology.

Mosque as Qing Zheng Si,

Halal as Qing Zheng.

Interestingly, the names of five salat in China are also different from that of other parts of the world.

Subu as 'Bangbuda'

Zuhur as 'Pieshni'

Asar as 'Diger'

Maglib as 'Shamu'

Ashaar as 'Hufutan'.

Witr is same, as 'Witr'.

Hmm, I know a lot of Muslims in China that will only eat in Muslim restaurants because of the possibility of the utensils being touched by pork.     This is an issue.  Perhaps you could take it up with an Imam.    I fear giving you an opinion without proper adilla.

I agree with your statement, that is what normally people say

So I will request for vegetarian food, as this is the best I can do at that situation.

What is your opinion, if I am worry that their cooking utensil  was touched by pork, cooking oil containing pork? Just hope that Allah will make our food halal, Insyallah, right?

I guess a rough translation for "hui ming" is Muslim and "de" is a suffix used to show possession or belonging.    If I said something was Mai Guo De, it would mean it was American.

I don't see why you couldn't eat the vegetarian food.    Just make sure they don't put any meat in your vegetables.  Chinese like to mix meat and vegetables.  Also, pretty much all Chinese understand that Muslims don't eat pork.  But they don't get the concept of "halal" beef, chicken, etc.  So be careful, of people giving you meat and saying "yes yes I know you're muslim this one you can eat."

Salaam
