Hope you must have got married by now. You may do an Islamic marraige but this should be infront of people and witnesses as required per islamic Law

Marriage is a legal contract between two people. A formal, binding contract is considered integral to a religiously valid Islamic marriage, and outlines the rights and responsibilities of the groom and bride.

As salaamoalaikum. You can only do the islamic marriage without the civil marriage. All you need is two (including her wali) religious practicing muslim present to witness the nikah.

I really need help with this. I live in Calgary ( I am new to the city). I meet this Muslim lady and We planning to get married in the summer ( June inshalah). due to her being from a different country, We only want to do simple Islamic marriage( Nikah) here to avoid doing anything wrong. We want to postponed the civil marriage to when We go to her country next year. Can We only do an Islamic marriage in Calgary or Alberta? if so how Can I go about it? God Bless u for the help.
