I think we all agree that slander is not freedom of speech.  However, we would disagree on whether making fun of people's religion constitutes slander.  Almost by definition, all humour makes fun of something.  Why not religion?

I'm sorry if you don't like it, but religions are a rich source of humour for those of us who don't believe them.  For instance, the Broadway musical comedy The Book of Mormon has won multiple awards, and is described by Vogue magazine as "quite possibly the funniest musical ever."  Mormons may not like it, but then they don't have to buy tickets for it, do they?  Just like Muslims don't have to buy Charlie Hebdo.  What right to they have to tell others what they can and cannot find amusing?
Addeenul Aql Religion is intellect.

I came up with this slogan days ago. Please feel free to use it to show support for the Islamic principle of not making fun of people's religions or religious leaders. What and who people hold holy should never be made fun of. I live in the West and I do not agree in absolute "freedom of speech" especially when it includes lies and slanders.

How would most people feel if other people made up nasty lies and slanders about them or their own parents? Most people would be outraged and rightly so. Those who do such things are simply some of the biggest ignoramuses and most st**id *****s out there. Irreverence has no place, especially when it comes to the realm of religion.
