It is not obligatory to read the Qur'an completely during Ramadan, this is a myth invented by some people. I've been told by hypocrites (Muslims who do not pray except in the month of Ramadan) that they've read the Qur'an cover to cover five or six times. Does that make him a good Muslim? There is no blame if you can only read the translation of the Qu'ran in a language that you understand, in fact it is encouraged, there are so many millions of Muslims who read the Qur'an in Arabic but they do not understand what they are reading. It is not difficult to learn to read in Arabic, just takes some effort and will power In Shaa Allah. Salaam |

Asalam Ualeikum warahmatulahi wabarakkatooh brothers and sisters.
Glory be to Allah, the creator of heavens and the earth. Since it's the month of Ramadan, I hope we are all fasting and thanking Allah, for this beautiful revelation (The noble Quran)that was sent through our beloved prophet Muhammad (SAW). I'll give a brief story about myself. I'm a Lithuanian/Russian convert, that is living in London, UK. I've been a Muslim for a year and a half, sadly I haven't been studying the Noble Quran as much as I should've and the hadiths of the prophet (SAW). But since it's now the holy month of Ramadan, and mash'Allah I was blessed with an opportunity, because I have a lot of free time now, so insh'Allah, I'll be able to clarify a lot of questions that I have. As for today's question followed by a brief sub-question, it is as follows: I have been told, that in the month of Ramadan, we have to read the entire Quran, but that's where the problem comes into play, because I can't read Arabic. I can recite some verses, but I can't actually read them. So is it enough for me to read it in English, or to listen to it in Arabic (from some websites, while reading it, it might not be in sync, but at least i would hear it). Sub-question: Does the Noble Quran has to be read through the form of the book, or can it also be read online? We pray to Allah to grant peace and blessings on prophet Muhammad (SAW) his entire household, the sahabbas, and insh'allah may Allah grant us ease in this world, and the paradise in the next world. |
