I would argue that "do unto others..." is not limited to theological traditions. It's basis, the idea of reciprocity,is found in nearly every ethical tradition on the planet.

Perhaps you mean; can Abuayisha live by that principle? I certainly try to do my best notwithstanding the inevitability of human failings.

I would argue that it is theology that will save modern societies from secularism. If modern secular countries would only live by one simple theological principle, that of, do unto others as you would have them do unto you the world would be a much safer place. The very idea of Islamic jurisprudence poses a threat to modern secular countries. It's people who make laws for people not God. Religious laws are no real laws. They are religious recommendations that can be followed by believers as long as they don't violate any real laws made by elected representatives. Edited by Matt Browne - 12 December 2015 at 4:05am |

It does not support discrimination as you understand discrimination of today's society. This is simply yet another scare tactic Islamophobes commonly repeat without having proper knowledge and understanding of Islamic jurisprudence.

The caliphate can't be a model for today, because it supports discrimination.

Sure it can given there is no caliphate in existence today. Although I do understand it can't be model because it doesn't fit your narrative paradigm. |
