No, you're not wrong. Because Allah said if u want to search a wife, u should search a woman who understand islam and do what Allah said. My teacher said "If with Allah she isn't obedient, how can she be obidient with you?"

Maybe She isn't your soulmate, for alternative way to search a wife you can do 'Ta'aruf'. U can ask the mosque or some 'ustadz' for nominee

*sorry for bad grammar*

Hope my answer will help :)

Salaam. Hope y'all are doing well.

I'm a muslim guy who is looking to get married. Just to give you a brief idea, I had a decent career but I decided to go back to school for a masters program. So right now, I am on a student visa.

Nevertheless, I managed to connect with a muslim girl. We exchanged a few texts and had a conversation over phone. It was a brief conversation which went well, at least I thought so. I also made it very clear to her that I am a full-time student on a student visa. She said it was not an issue. Before ending the call I encouraged her to ask whatever she wanted to, and she encouraged me to do the same.

Now the next day I sent her a text:

Me: How important is Islam in your life?
Her: It's important
Me: Are you regular in your prayers and do you fast during Ramadan?
Her: That is none of your business
       It's my relationship with god
You don't even have a visa or a job so be thankful I'm even talking to you
And I'm not interested anymore bye

Now my question is - was I wrong in asking her that question? In hindsight I'm glad I did as I managed to get to a speedy conclusion.
