AssalamuAlaikum,

MOCKBA:

I addressed "Administrators, Moderators and Owner" for the sake of addressing because of "not knowing who exactly could handle the problem". I am not blaming you for anything in your capacity as a moderator, nor am I pointing out brother Rami or sister Nausheen. I apologise if I offended any of you in any way, though it was not my intention. I agree with you that we can overcome negativities by contributing to positivities . May Allah bless you all for all the good work you people are doing.

abuayisha:

Thank you for your input. It was very helpful to me to come back on track by the grace of Allah. I want this site  to flourish in all respects so that I may ask my children to come here, take part in discussions, and learn in a meaningful way as Islam expects us to do. In that quest, I might have made some generalized statements, but the purpose was not to offend anyone. Therefore, you don't have to apologise me, in fact I would like to apologise to anybody who might have been offended by my statements. There are many members and posts here at the forum that really helps me learn true Islam by the grace of Allah.

I have always held very high regards for islamicity.com, home to millions of visitors every year, and I want it in the best shape all the time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That was, and will be my wish. I pray to Allah that we achieve this goal at some point of time.  I ( or may be we ) can't acquire major media networks or even create such networks due to lack of resources, may be one day we will inshaAllah, but we can at least make the best use of what Allah has already blessed us. I think we are heading in that direction. May Allah guide us.

Peace

AssalamuAlaikum,

Administrators, Moderators and Owner of Islamicity.com:

I am noticing that there are unnecessary arguments on the forum at verious occasions.

With all due respect, 'unnecessary" is relative and totally subjective.  You may want to give a few examples.

Shouldn't there be a system in which all the messages first get filtered through the moderators, and then they are posted.

This would call for full moderation, and in my view, it painfully slows the exchange of ideas.  Posts that you may deem innappropriate can always be reported.

Moderators are involved even now, but it seems to me that they get involved at later stages after someone has already demonised Islam or arrogantly or even ignorantly played with the belief of the fellow member. Then we also have those Islam bashers who are just out to defame Islam. They post funny Messages just to defame Islam. Then they are gone.

I agree with Mockba; "and by the time we spot it it has already developed into a legthy post with some interesting articles and thoughts.Mostly, I am very pleased with respones and thoughts to those who seek to defame or bash our faith, and moderation is excellent in this area.

After that moderators will remove those messages. But, the damage is already done. Sensitive people like me get hurt. I don't want to hurt anyone's feeling, and at the same time, I also don't want to get hurt by others. By the way, I come here to learn and let others learn and thereby seek peace. And I don't want to go from here with an injured  heart as that doesn't meet my objective.

Certainly, we do not want to hurt others, or have our feelings hurt.  I guess sometimes we may write respones that we otherwise, may not have spoken directly to an individual, had the debate been face-to-face, thus transgressing a little, which can result in hurt feelings.  Let me be first to apologise for this, because surely Allah will ask us concerning our written communication, just as our verbal communications.

Doesn't it seem that there appears to be serious flaw here in the system??? Media demonizes my faith outside the forum, and I turn to forum for a change. Shouldn't I get that change?

Really, I like this forum, for it brings home our living in a global village.  Post 9/11 it was very interesting to hear feedback from non-muslims - even though some were hate-filled, many were very supportive.  So, I believe the system is working fine.

I have been a member of islamicity.com for the last many years. Only recently, however, did I join the forum. I was happy that I was supporting islamicity.com, but seeing the condition of the forum, I am really very very sad. Excessive argument takes us nowhere. That is simple fact. I request concerned authorities to consider it a very serious request. I don't want to withdraw my membership of islamicity.com ( as that is really doing great job as far as I know ), but forum is also an important part of it. Plus one minus one is what? It may not be a good example, but may be it will compell us to reflect upon the issues I have raised.

As one member speaking to another, I thank you for raising those issues, and hope you will continue in the forum, for we all learn from each other, even though at times it may seem a bit cantankerous...just like with our biological brothers and sisters  fighting/love/fighting.

Bismillah

It is the participants that make the condition of the forum. If you post something good to outweigh the garbage, one day this forum may become a better place. As far as Moderators are concerned, it is not always possible to detect insanity in real-time, and by the time we spot it it has already developed into a legthy post with some interesting articles and thoughts.

If i could, I would have deleted entire posts on marijuaha, bob marley fan club, homosexuals, masturbation and the like... cut it to the root. Somehow, many participants have made an effort to provide sincere answers on the subjects, and it may not be fare to delete everything... Hence a lot of garbage...
