Wa alaikum,
First you need to develop a thorough understanding of your own faith and then you can read whatever you want to read with the conviction that you have faith in the guidance you got from your book. The discrepencies can be sorted out by comapring the two and then reaching to the conclusion that the Quran, comprises the divine guidance unchanged and unedited.

hi there, my Christian friend has suggested that I read the Book of John. I'm reading it now, and it appears to be not entirely consistent with the conception of Jesus in the Qur'an. What should a Muslim's attitude be toward the Bible, specifically toward the first four books of the New Testament? thanks.
