Agonizing about Aisha�s age (20)

According to some sources, particularly Hadith collections such as Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, Aisha wa around 6 years old when she was betrothed (contracted) to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and around nine years old when she marries him. In the ealier century of Arabian society, it was customary for girls too be married at a young age. The marriage between the Prophet Muhammad and Aisha was not unusual for the time and was within the norms of the society. Their marriage was a respected union that provided companionship and mutual support.
