Assalamu Alaikum! "36:40 It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law)." Above verse has had a tremendous impact on my scientific career and life as a Muslim by the grace of Allah. Jazak Allah Khair for sharing it. Peace |

Assalamu Alaikum: Do you ever just have one of those moments of clarity? You know, where you've seen something or read something many times and it doesn't really mean that much and then one day BOOM... The magnitude of it really hits you? Anyway, that's what I had.

Dear Mishmish The Earth rotates on its axis at about 1,100 miles an hour, a motion that creates day and night. The Earth orbits the sun at about 67,000 miles an hour, a motion that takes one year. The sun circles the Milky Way at a speed of about 486,000 miles per hour. it takes the sun 226 million years to circle its home galaxy. And every object in the universe is moving apart from the other objects as the universe expands at a constantly accelerating rate. All the praise to the Creator. And they say that "they will not be resurrected" |

Assalamu Alaikum: This Ayat was posted on the Interfaith Section as part of an article claiming that the Quran has contradictions. I decided to answer the article, and doing a little research I found scientific proof that the sun does have an orbit. The orbit of the moon has been scientific fact for a while. But the sun is a different story. Anyway, I posted the information and started doing chores, then it REALLY hit me what I had read. Subhan Allah. Subhan Allah. No one believed that the sun moved. They thought it was stationary. Yet in the Quran, Allah states the sun has and orbit. Subhan Allah! To me, this is extremely miraculous. I guess I really hadn't stopped and truly thought about it before. Something that no one had even thought of until late in the last century(1900's). Anyway, just thought I'd share. 36:40 It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law).
