Insult !

Bismillah,

Anybody want to bring up taboos in the Islaamic world as it relates to this topic? 

The reciter receives merit from Allah, The All-Knowing, for his/her recitation no matter how unmelodical as long as it is accurate.

People know that correct memorization involves serious study and the person is to be respected for this achievement.

The person is sharing their knowledge because it is a respected way to worhip Allah, Our Loving, Forgivng Lord.

And when it comes down to it, being a westerner and all, I prefer to listen to any Quranic reciter with a melodious voice rather than a harsh one.

Allah knows the best brother,if i know someone's heart well then i can not offend,your view is right to on others we do not know well that we can assume are they insulting?,but no way on Angela,may be she was angry on a matter that talked hurshly...let's close the file,no need....

Brother, if you read the thread again,you will realize that there is no insult on the words of Allah again  any bad intention to the reciters,Angela just drop an point on to the issue of bad recitation of the surahs can damage the feelings beside the glory of Qur'an as you can easily see from her words that it is an real effect which should be considered seriously,brother there are some nobles in Islam but condemning the bad recitation of Qur'an is not inside of these nobles,Allah knows the best,sometimes making ennobles to nobles may cause so much damage something else like hatred or anger,brother we should always concern on to walking on the way has given by Allah and passing the limits may cause harms on our friendships between each others,as an example that under of  these wrong unrightful feelings you have missed how she loves to listen and read Qur'an and i really i wonder how you have lost in useless points beside of a sister who lives in USA and really respects your religion while she is a Christian,,brother may be you need a trip to the west for seeing how persons live and reacts to Islam without looking any informations for the real validity or confirmations from the truth then i believe you will come back here and will realize how we have beautiful friends we have that sometimes we do not see their beauties before loosing them i wish we will not bcs this is a blessing of Allah having a blessed a brothers and sisters,by that reason i do not give right to your feelings,if one reads qur'an like a dying cat then it means he is insulting the qur'an!,let me show it's proof from a source of the hadits with a quotation from the book of Khurram Murad called "The way to the Qur'an":

Reading Beautifully

Next to reading the Qur'an correctly, it is desirable to learn the art of qira'ah in order to read it beautifully, in a sweet, pleasant, and melodious style and voice. There are many Hadith which point in this direction:

"Beautify the Qur'an with your voices (Abd Da'ud).

God does not listen to anything as He does to a prophet with a good voice who recites the Qur'an aloud (Bukhari, Muslim). He who does not chant the Qur'an is not among us (Bukhari) .

But remember that the real beauty is the beauty that comes with the fear of God in one's heart:

His recitation and voice is most beautiful that when you hear him you think he fears God (Darimi)

I want to finish my words from a example from my summer house which is inside a small village similar to you can see French and Spain,you know there is a mosque at the middle of the village and humble houses who has large gardens beside the pine trees covered with the glorious mountains.

So many years ago there was a imam who was  reciting the adhan very badly,it was so horrible that all unbelievers in the village was laughing at him,you could see how made a negative effect on Islam that so many of the villagers were not going to mosque by the cause of his bad recitation,of course this is also wrong he was doing his best and was unable to recite well and they should ignore his recitation and could close to Islam....

Brother,all we want to say is who recites Qur'an must be chosen from the persons who has good voices to be able to recite well,also his iman is important but the good voice is important for effecting onto the others...dying cat concept was just an reaction under of the beauty of Qur'an that was not fitting to its wonderful existence,just a saying and please do not offend.... ws...
