As Salaam alaikum, I was invited by one of the siters to come to the Masjid tonight. They had a dinner in honor of those who complete Hajj this year. it was interesting to hear the stories of those who went. One sister has agreed to meet with me, answer questions, & talk about Islam. Everything went well. peace y'all |

Congratulations, I hope it wasn't all that difficult! I was in Knoxville in 37 years ago to visit my brother at Tennessee U, it is too fuzzy right now but I am glad that you found the Masgid. Keep us posted about the progress. Salaamoalaikum Edited by Sign*Reader |

Just wanted to update you. I did visit the Masjid today. They have a school there during the week. I got two names of sisters that would be willing to help me in study of Qur'an. No prayers were going on while I was there. Everyone was friendly. I found out there is a very small Masjid in the town I live in out side of Knoxville, Tn So I may go there also. thanks everybody for your support. Was Salaam |

Salaamu Alaykum, In Shah Allah you will find what you need. It sounds like it would be good to ask the person who answers the phone if they have a program for introduction to Islaam. A program would be best to start with. Maybe they have an informal group in which you go by on Friday prayer or probably after Maghrib I would think, on a Friday or Saturday, and sit in the group they have arranged for that. At the very least there should be a study group monthly or held at someone's home, with a group of sisters. Beware of unIslaamic intentions. Just because a guy answers the phone at the mosque doesn't mean he is pious. Don't agree to meet with one guy somewhere. Go with the group idea or meet with an educated person at the mosque when there are a lot of people there. Let us know how it's going. If you need Quran lessons, maybe someone here could help. Did you look in the Language section Sister Ummziba created? There are lots of downloads to learn the salat. Do a search for Salat and see what you find. Peace |
