Bismillah irrahman irrahim

Assalamu alaikum

Some companions once said to Sayyidina Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wassalam, "Ya rasullullah, we love Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Does Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala loves us as much as we love Him". Upon this the Ayah was revealed 3:31] Say, (O Muhammad, to mankind): If ye love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
and we should remember the saying of Ayeshah (ra), the wife of Sayyidina Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wassalam when some one asked her about the character of The Prophet, she said, 'His character is that of Holy Quran'.

So if we have Love of our Lord in our heart then all we need to do is get better understanding of Holy Quran and learn the sunnah of Sayyidina Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wassalam and follow it to best of our capability.

I cant see whether some1 has replied to your question about 'saw'. This is shorthand for sallallahu alayhi wassalam which means 'may peace and blessing of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala be upon him'. This is used for Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wassalam. While we write Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, swt for short which means Glorified and Most High.

Lastly you mentioned the dificulty you facing knowing what to say in the salah (prayer) and worrying about what is in your heart. I think if you try to ponder over the meaning of what you saying, you would be surprised to know how much it is tuned up with your heartbeat. The first Surah that we read in the salah is a coversation between us and our Lord. There is a beautiful saying of Sayyidina Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wassalam about this surah and i posted in 'Quran and Sunnah' section quite a while ago.

Al-Fatihah and the Prayer

Muslim recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Prophet said,

(Whoever performs any prayer in which he did not read Umm Al-Qur'an, then his prayer is incomplete.) He said it thrice.

Abu Hurayrah was asked, "[When] we stand behind the Imam'' He said, "Read it to yourself, for I heard the Messenger of Allah say,

(Allah, the Exalted, said, `I have divided the prayer (Al-Fatihah) into two halves between Myself and My servant, and My servant shall have what he asks for.' If he says,

(All praise and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of existence.)

Allah says, `My servant has praised Me.' When the servant says,

(The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.)

Allah says, `My servant has glorified Me.' When he says,

(The Owner of the Day of Recompense.) Allah says, `My servant has glorified Me,' or `My servant has related all matters to Me.' When he says,

(You (alone) we worship, and You (alone) we ask for help.) Allah says, `This is between Me and My servant, and My servant shall acquire what he sought.' When he says,

(Guide us to the straight path. The way of those on whom You have granted Your grace, not (the way) of those who earned Your anger, nor of those who went astray), Allah says, `This is for My servant, and My servant shall acquire what he asked for.').''

These are the words of An-Nasa'i, while both Muslim and An-Nasa'i collected the following wording, "A half of it is for Me and a half for My servant, and My servant shall acquire what he asked for.''

 (taken from tafsir ibn kathir)

Wassalam

yes Arab I have prayed the Muslim prayers, but I am learning how to perform them and trying to learn what is said i concentrate so much on those two things i don't have time to consider what is in my heart. That's terrible isn't it?

Some beautiful hadith posted by Arab about Allah's love for his creation and his mercy.   You have asked "what is love?" a really deep question, I do not have the answer but perhaps it is like the aching feeling of wanting to be with Allah,  it is being on a journey to Allah and the deep tranquility you experience as you gain nearness through the prayers and dhikr and simple rememberence  etc that Allah has prescribed for you

How to get there ? some might say it is to remove everything but Allah from your heart ( a  reflection of "there is no god but Allah- in your heart) - including, most of all, your own desires, pride and all those matters stopping you from connecting with Allah.  Having complete trust that he will sort out your affairs in the right way.

It is fascinating that all of the hadith is about Allah's love for his creation rather than the other way round( there is another Hadith Qudsi about if you make small/slow steps towards Allah, Allah will rush towards you - Arab are you able to find this hadith? ).  It is us who are lazy and wrapped up in our own ego to take advantage of it

Your intention to love Allah without partner or association is in itself a gift from Allah .  If you are fortunate enough to be able to love Allah as he should be loved and to be loved by Allah -  there is nothing else that you need !  So keep asking Allah.

Salam Alaikom.

In the name of Allah the most Gracious most Mercifull

I think my answer isnt going to be satisfying since im writing in a hurry and insha Allah ill come back later and try 2 give a better one but the true love of a Muslim is the love o Allah swt (the s stands for an arabic word which is subhanah which as far as I know doesnt ave an equivelent in the english language but we say it to glorify God. For example when we see or hear something fascinating or astonishing we say subhan Allah! (in amazment). and the wt stands for and Him be exalted).

Love with Allah means to obey his commandments, it is to love someone or something for the sake of Allah. And hate someone or something evil also for the sake of Allah. It is to live for Allah. That which angers Him angers you because you love Him. True love isnt love of desires, be them physical or any other but it really is giving up your dersires to Him.

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu Anhu) reported: The Prophet (SAW) said, A man set out to visit a brother (in Faith) in another town and Allah sent an angel on his way. When the man met the angel, the latter asked him, "Where do you intend to go?" He said: "I intend to visit my brother in this town." The angel said, "Have you done any favor for him?" He said, "No, I have no desire except to visit him because I love him for the sake of Allah, the Exalted, and Glorious." Thereupon the angel said, "I am a messenger to you from Allah (to inform you) that Allah loves you as you him (for His sake)." [Muslim]

But how do I love Allah? Meaning how can His love enter my heart? These hadiths will help you a lot sister, they have helped me and still do to this very day:

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

A man sinned greatly against himself, and when death came to him he charged his sons, saying: When I have died, burn me, then crush me and scatter [my ashes] into the sea, for, by Allah, if my Lord takes possession of me, He will punish me in a manner in which He has punished no one [else]. So they did that to him. Then He said to the earth: Produce what you have taken-and there he was! And He said to him: What induced you to do what you did? He said: Being afraid of You, O my Lord (or he said: Being frightened of You) and because of that He forgave him.

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him), from among the things he reports from his Lord (mighty and sublime be He), is that he said:

A servant [of Allah's] committed a sin and said: O Allah, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. Then he sinned again and said: O Lord, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. Then he sinned again and said: O Lord, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for sins. Do what you wish, for I have forgiven you.

It was related by Muslim (also by al-Bukhari).

On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: Allah the Almighty said:

O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it.

It was related by at-Tirmidhi (also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal).

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

Our Lord (glorified and exalted be He) descends each night to the earth's sky when there remains the final third of the night, and He says: Who is saying a prayer to Me that I may answer it? Who is asking something of Me that I may give it him? Who is asking forgiveness of Me that I may forgive him?

It was related by al-Bukhari (also by Muslim, Malik, at-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud).

In a version by Muslim the Hadith ends with the words:
And thus He continues till [the light of] dawn shines.

On the authority of son of Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), among the sayings he related from his Lord (glorified and exalted be He) is that He said:

Allah has written down the good deeds and the bad ones. Then He explained it [by saying that] he who has intended a good deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as from ten good deeds to seven hundred times, or many times over. But if he has intended a bad deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down as one bad deed.

It was related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

On the authority of Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace be upon him) is that among the sayings he relates from his Lord (may He be glorified) is that He said:

O My servants, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another. O My servants, all of you are astray except for those I have guided, so seek guidance of Me and I shall guide you, O My servants, all of you are hungry except for those I have fed, so seek food of Me and I shall feed you. O My servants, all of you are naked except for those I have clothed, so seek clothing of Me and I shall clothe you. O My servants, you sin by night and by day, and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness of Me and I shall forgive you. O My servants, you will not attain harming Me so as to harm Me, and will not attain benefitting Me so as to benefit Me. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as pious as the most pious heart of any one man of you, that would not increase My kingdom in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as wicked as the most wicked heart of any one man of you, that would not decrease My kingdom in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to rise up in one place and make a request of Me, and were I to give everyone what he requested, that would not decrease what I have, any more that a needle decreases the sea if put into it. O My servants, it is but your deeds that I reckon up for you and then recompense you for, so let him finds good praise Allah and let him who finds other that blame no one but himself.

It was related by Muslim (also by at-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah).

Once, the prophet told those with him that "do you see this woman" and they said yes. Do you see her baby? They said yes. He said that do you think that this mother will throw her baby in hell fire? They said no o messenger of Allah. And he said "Allah is more mercifull towards his servants then this woman is to her baby".

When you hear this, your heart melts with Allah love. Sorry if my answer wasnt any good. Also, Allah put 1 out of 100 of Mercy into the world and His creations and left the 99 for Him so that He would forgive us on the day of judgment. So, how can you not love Allah
praise be to Him till eternity.
