It is a good movie.. I saw it with a catholic friend.. and she didnt like it.. haha.. I could only wonder why, but perhaps it was because the Christians werent portrayed in the best of light.. though I think it was pretty accurate.. I have read extensivly on the crusades - its my favorite time Period! haha.. But, like most other movies that DO NOT glorify Conflict.. it makes a person leaving the theater - hating war.. Please take note that it is not a biased perspective. It is a cynical
movie on the Crusades, portraying the greed and avarice that caused the
Crusades, and the pretentious reasons (Christians and Muslims alike)
for embarking on the Crusades and the Jihads that were launched in
response to the Crusades. The setting of the movie is right before the
thrid Crusdade, when Saladin retakes Jerusalem.
Excellent movie, I must say. |

I believe "Kingdom of Heaven" is due to be released May 6th. I will have to wait until it comes out on DVD as I don't go to the movie theatre. Does anyone know by who's "side" or which angle the movie is about (ie. the Christian view?, the Jewish view? the Muslim view? or a well balanced view of all sides???) Peace, ummziba. |
