What has Islam done in the last hundred or so years(I could go back alot further)other then kill non believers? Really, what have they contributed to any society with out death and destruction? For example: Thomas Edison gave the world light.

I am looking for an answer to this specific question before you start attacking me. I don't want to hear what the west has done or any one else. I would like a straight forward answer to this question.

Let's be adults here and remember, I only ask a question.

Before you say it.....I follow no religion. I practice nothing as far as faith is concerned.
Yes, I do believe in a higher power named God!

Please remember, it is only a question.

Allah gave the world light and Muslims for the last hundred and over years have appreciated it and worshipped their Creator through obedience to Him. That is the best thing a human can possibly do having been given a chance to live.

As far as developments in science are concerned, when obedient and pious Muslims were not busy protecting themselves from the evil-mongers, when they were not victims of mass murders and slaughter, they did have a habit of spending time investigating the various forms of God's creation which resulted in establishment of strong foundation for various streams of science - algebra, chemistry, geometry, geogrpahy, medicine...  some of which have retained arabic origin in their names until now.

And perhaps they could have discovered more from the creation of Allah, and help prevent global warming, poisonous pollution, heal cancer and more if the unbelievers did not murder them in the midst of their times and reduce their libraries and effort to ashes... having only saved few of the works that eventually helped insipire people like Thomas Edison.

For specifics, the following reading is much recommended:

Come on, I am not talking about scholars from way back when. I know they have their place in history. Or who slaughtered who. Every side has had there slaughters. Everyside! This is a fact!

Let me rephrase. What have the muslims as a whole, done to better the world? Example: America as a whole have contributed billions upon billions of dollars to help poor countrys of the world and the such.
(I personally disagree with this kind of action by my government. I don't think we should be giving money to those who want to kill us as citizens of the greatest country in the world.)

Please do not enlighten me with words from the Koran. I am just looking for a simple answer to a simple question.

I would like to get a muslims perspective on this.

Bismillah

You have given the example of Thomas Edison who is not quite your contemporary yet refused to accept scholars of the past. The scientific part of the argument, as we see, seems to have been settled.

America, in the first place, established herself in "greatness" on the smoldering ashes of her native indigenous communities. Yes, she has accumulated, without exaggeration, billions of dollars by destroying governing systems of other nations only to ease her path into robbing their people of their natural resources. You might not be wrong, America could be well spending some part of that money to sustain millions of slaves she has employed in poor countries to produce items for her own consumption and trade, skillfully making such transaction appear as donation.

As far as your question on Muslim contribution is concerned, let me repeat that Muslims, by far, have upheld the true undistorted concepts of good and evil through word and deed, acknowledged their true Creator and worshiped Him through obedience. That is the best thing a human can possibly achieve having been given a chance to live.

If you noticed, and to your own surprise, noone has enlightened you with the words of Koran, so far. The answers that you have received (all from Muslims) could not have been put any simpler. Your phobia and highlights are unfouded.
