I have to say, I'm a little concerned by the tone of the question as well as the purpose. The Middle East without pointing fingers has been a hotbed of war for Millenia, even before the Modern Era. Perhaps the greatest acheivements of the Muslim world are slightly removed by time, but their impact is incalculable. Albert Einstein would have been nothing without Algebra and Mathematics. We cannot trivialize past acheivements because of recent heartache and enmity. The fact is too many promising young muslim men and women are contributing in ways that we never see. Software engineers, doctors, scientists.....names that aren't known to the common person. How many American accomplishments have come from immigrants to this country? A muslim man looked me in the eyes and told me that I had nothing to worry about, I didn't have cancer. He saves lives everyday. Contributions to society can be small and large, not every miracle goes into the records of time. Muslim men and women are in the modern day, poets, scholars, professors, scientists, doctors, mothers and fathers. To just demand specific instances, that's rather unfair. Would you ask the same on a Buddhist website or a Hindu website? Probably not. Every life is sacred from the poor man who breaks his back in honest hard labor to the Nobel Prize winning scientist who erradicates a disease. Perhaps, sir, you need to stop thinking in those terms. Its alot like President Kennedy said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country!" Rober1971, what have you done to contribute to Humanity and Society? Angela |

The concept of "patenting" every simple & single invention is alien to the Islamic culture. And so is proclaiming to the world that "I so & so Muslim has invented it" etc. Sharing of knowledge and humility are the hall marks of being a Muslim. Greatness belongs to God alone, not to America as it claims or anyone else who indulge in aggression and suppression.

Before answering this question of Mr. Rober I would like to ask him a question. What the Christian and Jewish world has done to the Muslim world in last about 100 years other than Persecution, subjugation, colonization and killing. Look at Palistine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Chachenya, Africa, Kashmir, Balkans and South East Asia. This 200 years of subjugation of Muslims have caused a backlash and now west is claiming of their arrogant behaviour. Mr. Rober is completely unaware of history. History can't be taken into bits and pieces it has to be taken in nutshell. Muslims were on the twilight of their prosperity when the west was living in dark ages. Muslims brought them the way of living, a rich civilization and what we recieved in return was total destruction. I do not say that but most of the neutral westren oriantialists say that. Please do read Bernard Lewis, H.R. Gibbs and Arnold Tonbyee who confess that. Shams Zaman Pakistan |

Howdy, I'd suggest stopping by the nearest masjid (if there is one in your home town or a nearby community.) I can't vouch for all of America, but around here, muslims make up less than 1% of the population, but they are medical doctors (very high percent), computer programmers (ones I know personally are doing some REALLY cool stuff, and I'm an uber-geek, so I ain't talkin' no temp visa holding flunkies), they are mathmatics proffesors at the colleges, and I've met two who run a very successful small business. I hate to generalize, but the typical American Muslim has a WAY better resume than the typical WASP American. Just the way it goes. |

Some people before you asked questions, and on that account lost their faith.
