Anyways, am waiting for my answer to the question
Khalid bin Waleed RA, was disposed as an ordinary soldier by Umar RA, Why ?
Its intresting and helps us to learn from it.

Well, my guess is that probably he went over board in some of the expeditions which had no prior concurrance of the Khalifa. I have to verify it from some references, till then its simply a guess.

Walaikum Salam
Duane, i shall go with your first answer. I read similar.
The reason behind the deposition of Khalid was not malice on the part of the great Caliph Umar. He was too great a person to be associated with such acts. `The Military Chief had to give place to the civil functionary; sword to pen; Khalid to Abu Ubaidah. He sent a rescript to the various provinces announcing that he had not deposed Khalid because of any fault on his part, but because people had begun to repose greater trust in Khalid than in God.
Infact Umar RA acknowledged openly `God may bless Abu Bakr. He had greater sense for the right type of men than myself'.
Is n't it intresting ! Infact we learn a lot from this
1. Its said that , Khalid bin Waleed continued to serve with unflagging zeal as a faithful solder of Islam in all the campaign thereafter. He never felt humilitating. Just imagine, today's ummah, in his place ----- Anyways, we learn here, to act only for the sake of Allah swt, not for a good position or fame.
2. Umar RA's decision.
He realised that whichever campaign Khalid bin Waleed commandered, was always bestowed with success. This made people rely over Khalid bin waleed, rather than Allah swt, the Bestower of Success. This commander was a moral support for them
Any other lessons --- kindly share

masha Allahu, very interesting lesson...it displays 'humility' and obeisance...from my perspective because he obeyed Umar(r.a) and humbled himself by not attaching 'too much' importance to his position or status that he was elevated to...May Allah endow us with such virtues!

As Salamu Alaikum
I have to admit islamic military campains interest me. I could not help but feel a deep sense of sadness after reading "The Sword of Allah". I try to see things from their perspective. The sadness I felt was not, as some might think, the removal of Khalid bin Waleed as Commander.
Here is a man who had fought against islam, then by the grace of Allah (SWT) became one of islam's greatest supporters. I asked myself. What would I have wanted. As a Muslim, and as a soldier I would want victory for my religion all the while craving marterdom. Campain after campain throwing myslef into the fray (wisely of course) to achieve either or both. Looking at it in this way I can see why Khalid bin Waleed steped down in such a graceful manner and fought side by side with the soldiers. He was not fighting for fame, or for worldly gain. He was fighting for islam and marterdom for the sake of Allah (SWT). He never did achieved one of these.

As Salamu Alaikum
Jazakumullahu khayr members for sharing your views. Missing your comments sis Alwardah.
Yes. Duane, even i wonder that the hero of hundreds of battles died with an unrealized wish for martyrdom on his dying lips. Allah swt knows His Hikmah swt. I wish we had such muslims today, {Like Khalid bin Waleed, Salaudding Ayyubi, Umar bin Aziz ---} May Allah swt grant us such faith. Ameen
