Good Afternoon,
I am a Muslim brother who has gone through a rough couple of spiritual months.
I met a non-Muslim girl 4 years ago, and her and I have built a great bond to a point where we began talking marriage, and the possibility of her converting.
She does believe in God, but has a hard time handling the stories of Organized religion (Virigin Birth, Noah's Ark), etc.
Being a born Muslim, I have learnt about those ideas and concepts only through teaching mechanisms that don't provoke thought, but it being 'what we believe in'.
Here I am now trying to answer her questions and being unable myself to revert to any kind of knowledge that makes sense to her, let alone me.
I know for a fact that I am not up to the task of helping her through this process, and if anything, I've realized this last while, I first am in need of help.
A ) Does anybody around here have any kind of advice on helping a fellow Muslim believe again? I found myself doing my prayers last night, and then performing Du'ah for a good half hour, asking God for guidance.
B ) Can anybody direct me to publications or articles that may help my friend and I through this possible conversion process? I found it much easier the idea of converting a person who believes in a previous religion to Islam. However, for one who doesn't follow a religion, this has been an absolute struggle for her and I.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,

As Salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,
{May peace and blessings of Allah be upon you} Welcome to the discussions of Islamicity, also hope you excuse us for the delay. Am happy for you brother, that you did pray and perform duas. All Praises be to Allah swt, who guided you to make prayers and duas. The duas made whole heartedly, i.e with sincerity, do get answered. May Allah swt accept your duas. Kindly be regular in reflecting over Qur'an. Try to associate yourselves with Islamic atmosphere, i.e discussing islam related topics with your friends & family, or attending Islamic meetings atleast once a week, reading {Subscribe them} Islamic magazines, read the stories of sahabas which are very inspiring. During all this process, you shall be getting 'n' number of doubts, which is a sign of healthy mind. Islam has got answers to all kind of questions that arise in our minds. Post them here, {Alhamdullilah, we have members blessed with good knowledge}, else can mail to those magazines you are reading, or can even ask to the speakers you are listening to. Ward off the whisperings of satan which may be at its peak to drive you away from the path you are seeking. Just keep reciting, "hawla wa la quwwata illa billah hil-`Aliyil-`Azim (there is no strength and no power except with Allah the Exalted, the Almighty). Keep reciting the Isti`adhah. the Isti`adhah wards off the evil of Satan, which is neccessary, the rule is that the means needed to implement a requirement of the religion is itself also required. And when one says, "I seek refuge with Allah from the cursed devil.'' Then this will suffice. The Isti`adhah cleanses the mouth from the foul speech that it has indulged in. It also purifies the mouth and prepares it to recite the speech of Allah. Further, the Isti`adhah entails seeking Allah's help and acknowledging His ability to do everything. The Isti`adhah also affirms the servant's meekness, weakness and inability to face the enemy of his inner evil, whom Allah alone, Who created this enemy, is able to repel and defeat. The Isti`adhah is a form of drawing closer to Allah and seeking refuge with Him from the evil of every evil creature. Isti`adhah means, "I seek refuge with Allah from the cursed Satan so that he is prevented from affecting my religious or worldly affairs, or hindering me from adhering to what I was commanded, or luring me into what I was prohibited from.'' Indeed, only Allah is able to prevent the evil of Satan from touching the son of Adam. This is why Allah allowed us to be lenient and kind with the human devil, so that his soft nature might cause him to refrain from the evil he is indulging in. However, Allah required us to seek refuge with Him from the evil of Satan, because he neither accepts bribes nor does kindness affect him, for he is pure evil. Thus, only He Who created Satan is able to stop his evil. "A'auzo billahi minash shaytaa nirajeem", shall ward of satan. The above font in bold is been shared from tafseer ibn kathir. Insha Allah, shall share its link posted by a brother {Duane} kindly download it, and can read it whenever you wish. These were few points which i wished to share regarding you. Now coming to friend you discussed. Firsty, is it right brother, about you been in contact to her directly. You are doing a good work of extending Islamic message but thru wrong means. Is it not possible that you work thru any of your sisters ! Islam does n't permit such kind of friendships.Let her study Islam not for your sake but to know the truth. There's no wrong in helping her. Insha Allah, you shall see good results when approached with right means.Stay in touch by sharing Islamic mails, and not getting into personal talks if its not possible thru your sister. There's an other way to extend our help. Why don't you ask her join here, and post her quetsions ? Apart from IC, i would recommend her to study Islam thru IRF thru there site {Google IRF, you may get it, insha Allah} , you can also download debates, and refreshing speeches of good scholars. If possible by tomorrow, shall share few. You can till then look for Yasir Qadhi's seerah over net. They are very very refreshing as do hold lessons for us. Ok the, shall sign off brother. Stay active at IC. Edited by seekshidayath - 15 July 2009 at 8:18am |

Mashallah, as usual Seeks is the first to welcome and help out a new member . . .
Welcome to the forum Brother Coolhitman, Alhamdulilah, it is never too late to revert to Allah, He is All-Forgiving. Your heart wishes to revert back to Islam, that is a good sign! It means our Nafs is not dead yet and there is Imaan (faith) in there. Just dont let go of this opportunity brother, and use this phase to get back to Allah. Seeks gave good advise. Nothing much to add. Will just re-stress the Qur'an part. Open the Qur'an, pick any page and start reading with translation, inshAllah it will help, it will be like Allah is speaking to you directly, and you will inshAllah feel the wieght of the Words. It always works for me. Apart from that, pray the Salaat-e-Haajat (Supplication Prayer) - according to Sahih Hadith, whenever one is in a situation and requires Help from Allah (needs something), he/she should turn to Allah, and pray. If you do not know how, try googling, or let us know, we shall post the Dua. Ask for Allah's help to ease Islam, ask for His Hidayat. Also, Ramadhan is around the corner, use this opportunity to get back in touch with Allah (tarawih at Mosque may help), worship during the night etc. You will especially feel close to Allah around Fajr time. As for answer to the questions that your asks, here is the link to the site that Seekshidayath mentioned: www.irf.net - they have recently changed thier website, so I could not find the download area, which has many free e-books authored by Dr.Naik, such as 'Common Questions Asked by nonmuslims about islam' - I have the PDF version of that book, dont know how to post here though. It would be a good idea to recommend this site, so she could browse and ask questions herself. |

Educated non-muslims as well strayed muslims, have been bestowed with guidance thru his speeches and debates. Assalaamu alaikum.
Does anyone know where can I get lectures of Dr. Naik (in pdf/doc format)? I checked irf's site and it solved some of my confusion on Shab-e-Barat, numbers of Raka'ats of Taraweeh. But now, I want more in-depth knowledge? Edited by Mahmud200 - 09 August 2009 at 3:28am |
