I also wanted to add that most people, of whatever faith, 'believe' how they believe cause its what their parents taught them. It is not really from a deep analysis and exploration of their lives. Muslims are no different then others in this regard.
Honestly, it may be hard for you but I hope you can have compassion and mercy for your in-laws. think they are like most average folk around the globe. And I am sure they have their redeeming qualities as well. It sounds like they are ignorant. It is like the Shiekh was saying how many people know about the Imam of the Masjid in Paris who fed and hid 100 Jewish people in the masjid during WWI. Or how many people want to ignore the million people who protested against the Iraqi war in England. How truly important is we see each other's humanity. As the Sheikh reported someone else said, we all want justice unitl it comes to us and then we want mercy... And tying it to what Martha said, we cna only focus on ourselves.. and that is treating your in-laws with dignity and respect. It is what Muslims are told to do in face if ignorance or prejudice. SHOW people who you are. Then leave the rest up to God. |

And on another note.. you could think of it as a blessing about what they are saying... you may be killed.. that is right.. by someone.. you, a Jewish an, married to a Palestinian... eek! It may save your like to stay away.. that is a whole area pushed down by oppression for generations.. do you really think people living under those conditions can be healthy psychologically? Do you really think they cannot but be affected by their surroundings? People are weak. Its like going to Pakistan and knowing some people have hads many relatives die in Afghanistan, by constant wars.. how can they even learn about anything in as healthy manner. Or take what has gone in the Congo.. its like your are ble to be healthy or whole. It is like a beat down.. the whole situation is irrational and so harmful.

Again, as you say the inhabitants of Islam aren't no different than the fanatics of Christianity, so again, my question beckons, how can I separate the behaviors of Muslim fanatics from the religion if all I have are the actions of the people?

Why do I get a feeling that you are a clone of another IC's long lost member "Israfil"? BTW he was suspended for his behavior for the following reasons... After everything is said and done you tend to direct the discussion to your personal issues then you spew your tirade against things Islamic. What do mean by "the inhabitants of Islam"? Islam is not named after a land mass, if you had stated inhabitant of Saudi one could stomach that line of thinking... but this indicates quite bit of ignorance coming from someone who married a Palestinian refugee somewhere on this planet earth...She married you being not well versed of her own identity...How is it possible that a person of Palestinian descent, from a Muslim background with a medical education would not be able to discern your race /ethnicity? I can tell a Jew by looks, names and way they talk, though it is politically incorrect to say that in US particularly ...You have not stated your domicile.. How long has your wife been away from her folks? These are the questions popping up... The question should not be how do you separate the fanatics from the religion! Same question goes for the Zionist first who created the Palestinian problem.. Now from the religion's(Islamic and Judaic) POV Is your marriage valid? It is not fanatics or no fanatics! The secularism and Liberalism has no rules about this so enjoy yourself and leave the poor folks alone who were left behind in the miserable lost land of Palestine... When you made the decision of having a relationship with a lost woman of Palestine deep down in your soul you knew she was different from your roots Jewish or not ...even then a Muslim can't accept a Christian or atheist son in law...So what is your next question? |

I am about sick of the comparison honestly!
Sign Reader first off, in other threads when the topic is specifically discussing one issue you go on and one with this political jargon garbage that people like myself don't even both to discuss to let's cut the crap when it comes to "tirade." I actually find my situation quite unique because it does reflect the current discussion which is about racism. Let's highlight some of your st**idity shall we?
You (signReader) ignorantly said:
"How is it possible that a person of Palestinian descent, from a Muslim background with a medical education would not be able to discern your race /ethnicity?"
As mentioned before (if you cared to read my previous statements) I said that this was recently revealed to me.
As for the rest of your pathetic questioning it is none of your business!

Who is racist here?
Israeli drive to prevent Jewish girls dating ArabsJonathan Cook, Foreign Correspondent
NAZARETH
// A local authority in Israel has announced that it is establishing a
special team of youth counsellors and psychologists whose job it will
be to identify young Jewish women who are dating Arab men and rescue
them. Couple of questions popped up How can the race of the Jews and Arabs be different? Aren't both Semitic people with different beliefs Edited by Sign*Reader - 29 September 2009 at 3:49pm |
