Dear sister, welcome to the IC, may Allah have mercy on your mum and all os us. May Allah forgive her and be pleased on her.
Make duaa for her and sadaqah..
I hope they answered your questions. A sister told me that keeping photos for memories is not fine because it is what Christians do and we as Muslims should not do like them. I do not have any more information about this from a scholar or a knowledgeble person to tell you..
writing potery on her will make you feel better and smile.. even drawing but the BEST is to recite Allah's name and pray for her.
