Sure sis, but can you not have double standards and asking for rights while telling others not to ask for theirs. If there is a such thing as asking for rights too much then there is such a thing as forcing too much oppression down the throat of the minorities and not allowing them to express their disapproval of immoral scanners either. By the way, can you explain to me how scanners will change any thing except falling even lower in being humane? Can you guaranty when you and I are striped of our dignity in the name of security- the incompetent security officers who blew up big time repeatedly in the past with all the most sophisticated technology in the world letting a kid whizz past (like he's some ghost can't be seen) and actually board a plane not blowing up big time again in the future. Not to mention this time they will have 'Live Porn show' to distract them from their actual job. While some sexy people will be baaaahaahaing through the scanners while security officers (Could be Lesbians and Guys) will be drooling looking at their private parts behind the curtains having times of their life - soon another kid will be waving them to wake them up hey look I'm a terrorist and i'm about to go board a plane bye! don't complain later! they will say hey kid! stop bothering us can't you see we are busy doing our jobs of keeping people safe - duh. Then next they will say we need to di-sect you like frog before you board a plane to see if you are actually not a biological weapon your self who will blow up any time - this insanity has to stop some where don't you agree sis? Salams Sister,
I am not asking others not to have their human rights at all. What is best is that people don't get paranoid about their rights..that goes for all people, religious or not. For example, these 95,000 muslims that want to sue..I find that extreme. It would look ridiculous, wouldn't it, if non-muslim Brits wanted to sue muslims because they are muslims. SO it is necessary to find the right balance in all things. OK, so regarding the scanners.Again, not a problem to protest, but it's how it's done. A reliable alternative should be implimented if it causes distress to the minority and it will come eventually. So people should be patient and flexible. I find your example of security officers a little bit over the top sis. When will people stop being so paranoid. Sure, you will have those that abuse the system and might be pervy..these will be weeded out I am sure. I worked in security, and as such these scanners eliminate the bodily contact previously in place. I have explained before that paddle scanners replaced the previous hands on contact with humans. Female officers once frisked women, male officers once frisked men. In that situation I could say some gay or lesbian officers might have got a sexual thrill, but it is still a small percentage of gays within the community at large, despite the persistent western scaremongering. And then came the paddles, now it is the body scanners. I personally believe, having been in that profession, that the best is being done to protect human rights and still allow good security. The security industry is moving forwards, not backwards. We cannot say the same for other countries unfortunately. There are pervs everywhere and in all religions. We have to advance and learn how to improve constantly. I grew up in a society when the conflict in Northern Ireland split the Catholics and the Protestants. Both sides had their own opinions, the IRA and other terrorist groups etc killed needlessly. Families were torn apart. Nothing was achieved and still the terrorist IRA sow their seeds of hate. So...the same will and is happening in the UK when diverse communities do not interact with eachother. I have many, many times explained that the barriers need to be broken down. I have lived within my own community(naturally) and lived 100% for 6yrs+ in the asian community. I understand many things. I really lived the culture and enjoyed many aspects of it. But what needs to happen is both/all communities mixing and listening to each other. Sis, you will know that this seldom happens. Asian communities segregate themselves from the English culture. THe English will get tired of being so lenient. I can assure you that the majority of English are very, very, tolerant. But times are changing. And in the next generation there will be a huge divide, same scenario as N. Ireland. The UK is a very small country...the population here is greater per square miles than Pakistan. Doesn't that seem strange. But it's true. The US do not have the same difficulties that we experience here, their country is HUGE!So it is not easy to help them understand. NOw if all muslims in all of Europe emmigrated to the US then its inhabitants would just begin to understand how desperately overpopulated we are here. The last thing I want for the UK is a civil war starting all because people do not take a deep breathe and listen to others and discuss like the decent human beings that we all can be. War will happen here, I can assure you. In my lifetime, in the UK. I do not want to see muslims and non-muslims as enemies. It is not a western problem especially..it is a human being problem. Greed mainly.Though religion could be said to play a part. I am content with my life cos I generally love people. I would happily share a cup of asian tea with you for example. My human rights will and are violated because of the way things are going right now. All are to blame. So..if for example muslims want their human rights, then gays expect theirs...the list goes on and on. I expect someone to suddenly one day come up with wanting to sue a murderer for breathing the same fresh air as them.So..where do you draw the line here? So yes, the insanity somewhere must stop. Who will take the initiative to do so before it's too late? So much has changed for the worse..no more playing hop scotch, no more conker playing, no more skipping games. What a mad, mad, mad, mad world. So, as a human from the middle part of the 20th century that had freedom to do SO much in life..human rights actually are now depriving me of that freedom. And it is supposed to be called progress? It is progress like this that destroyed previous civilisations..the Romans, the Greeks etc etc. The UK were once a good nation, the US are currently the great super power...that will not last long, and the next super power will be the E.U Amazing that such small, minor, petty issues can result in mass hysteria and the collapse of basic human life. It's terribly, terribly sad. You see, like with your original post...I responded in your eyes in a negative way. NOw can't you say we are at least talking more like sensible human beings? And for the main, I am an advocate for the minority. You just need to get to know me better sis :) Edited by martha - 03 April 2010 at 7:26am |

Martha Salaams,
You brought up many good points. Thanks One thing I will add is that Muslims are going to be challenged by many, many things in the west. For instance, recently a poll came out that like 55% of Americans won't have a problem have a gay president. Unless Muslim live in small isolated communities like the Amish and the Hasidim Jewish folks they will have in their face things they do not agree with, stronger than how long is your beard. One thing these communites do is they opt out of many aspects of the greater society in order to preserve other values. Another is, people here do not hold marriage in the same way, they see nothing wrong with premarital relationships, or relationships with no marriage on the brain. It is de-emphasized immensely if not discouraged for the financial risks are great. I cannot speak for life in the UK, as you say you have different population density issues, but Muslim here will face hard choices. What does it mean to integrate with the greater society and also to hold onto the core? VERY, very hard. Plus, maybe more in the UK, with having more immigrants, it is knowing and understanding the cultural norms and societal 'viewpoints." Hamza Yusuf talked about this.. Its like if you don't know what Stop sign is you just ignore it. Same with all the ways the normative culture operates. People, not just Muslims, often don't get these. And often causes those minor things to flare up. And I agree patience is so important. We know as Muslims we are to be tested. And we should have patience and behave in a certain manner when facing trials. I am listing to CDs on Purification of the Heart. And we should start with ourselves and fix ourselves. We should of course speak up for injustice but do it in a certain manner- not always easy. |

Wa-aliekum Asalam Wa Rahmatullau Wa
Barakatuhu
Sister martha! By saying 'if non-Muslim Brits wanted to sue
Muslims
because they are Muslims.' I hope you are not implying that
Being a
Muslim is an Offence in Eyes of Brits - otherwise chain of implication
will
come out starting with, I have to say Oh boy now I know Every thing!
Whether
you are Hindu, Buddhist, Jew or Christian or Atheist is Not an offence
to Brits
but simply if a person is a Muslim you are an offence to Brits hmmmm.I
see now.
So, thats why British government is discriminates between Muslims and
Non-Muslims in both/all communities mixing and listening to each other Yes of course thats what Muslims have done and are doing but its not enough and will it be ever enough? No Muslims need to Integrate to the point of leaving the religion to be accepted by British people because I have seen cases that many Muslims living in different parts of UK not segregated and mixed living in the heart of Non-Muslim populated area bullied and harassed into Not following their religion dont wear hijab, dont fast its offensive, come on have a drink, eat some pork, want a job! dont wear hijab or have beard else your chances of Not having a job is 95%, lets go to night clubs or pubs, dont pray and have a girl friend or a boy friend, dont believe what you believe in Wow! some tolerance! If you mean you want Muslims to integrate to the point of not being actually left Muslim then of course this is not acceptable to Muslims they will always do and believe in what makes them practicing Muslim other wise they rather be not a Muslim to fit in perfectly with other people as Desired are you sure you dont want to push Muslims into being forced to be a Non-Muslim with just a Muslim name tag. You have my best of wishes in your mission of
stalling a
civil war much anticipated by you, even though its hard to believe that
your
dream can actually come true in your life time, when UK home media is
every
other day putting on Nazi propaganda style shows on to fear monger
against
Islam - you will need to work your socks off to convince them that these
shows
can easily provoke civil war tendencies from both parties, when fascist
community
starts to blindly attacking innocent Muslims on the streets and start
practicing mid-evil attacks like throwing pigs heads in Masjids yards
(Has already
happened!). After all the effort Home media is putting in, we only need
to sit
back quietly wait for another holocaust to happen this time with
Muslims. Phew!
its makes me tired thinking about how hard you will need to work for
your mission to succeed, convincing all British
people not to be Offended every time a person becomes a Muslim because
thats
called 'Racism' - havent they had enough of that against 'blacks' (made
slaves
and kept oppressed until they fought back and won their rights and
freedom) in
the past, now looks like according to your testimony they found another
target
' the Muslims' Not ' the terrorists' which was initial claim. Its 21's
century
but the west have a lot of catching up to do with its claim that all
are equal
while being racist, it needs to stop being hypocritical. Benjamin Franklin said, "Any
society that would give up a
little liberty to gain a little security, will deserve neither and loose
both." I think this is enough for now, more chat later. Im more than happy to have good conversation with you any time my sister. Edited by Umm Hufsah - 04 April 2010 at 5:21am |

Salams sister
'Sigh'...you really are not understanding me at all are you. I was posing hypothetical questions in my post. And now you have gone all defensive on me! So, British muslims are upset about these danish cartoons. So, why get upset with the British about it? The British government does not discriminate against muslims..there are plenty of asian muslims in Parliament..would you like me to name them all? So please drop that one, thanks. You are certainly VERY narrow minded about the British wanting muslims to give up their religion. This is NOT the case at all. This is basically a Christian country and Christians are no longer allowed to celebrate many religious days in the schools, yet Ramadan and Eid are freely taught to all the children. Please get your facts right sister. Islam is allowed to be practiced here, there are no problems regarding the religious factor, unless you are a Christian. Your examples of British encouraging muslims to eat pork etc. Please name these cities( as they are cities, not smaller towns where the typical British person lives) I am more than happy to tell those people to back off. I gather you must be of asian origin? I can see why you would be upset. BUt don;t talk about the black slaves to me..in asia the wives are slaves..oops, sorry, servants, forgot they had that title. And we did not start slavery, but we were one of the first to abolish it. Sister, I would be happy to chat with you, but to be honest I really don;t think you have much of an idea of this country. Obviously you don;t consider it to be your home, as you are so ANTI everything. Do you like anything about the UK at all? I am most tolerant, but I can see if you talk like this to non-muslims they would get the hump with you. Perhaps it is best for you to stay in your little world. It is because you are so biased that I can say with confidence this country is going to the dogs. And here I was genuinely happy to discuss rationally this topic with you, and you go off on a tangent. It really doesn't help with Public Relations does it? 'Sigh' never mind... |

Sorry sister, Sigh........I was just trying to open your mind a bit, seems like you hold quite a lot of grudge against Asians - which doesn't effect me in the least irrespective of where I come from I see my self as a Muslim first (Can be from any part of the world) because I'm not a flag or land worshipper and I see people as people - do not judge them by their colour. But as you wish lets drop the subject between us, may be we can come back on another subject on some thing we agree on, Insha-Allah. |

Sister,
I might have a grudge against some asian muslims, that is all. Don't worry about it :) Whatever my faults I am not racist..or I would not have married my Pakistani husband. Like you, colour etc is not an issue, though often it seems to be for others. I have seen it a lot. Never mind :) BUt I am interested to know where you originate from. Maybe it will help us to break down some barriers. Last thing I want is friction...and I do get tense when people seem ungrateful for the blessings they have. BUt we shall move on to another topic, lol, and hopefully agree somewhere :) Salams |

I find it a little odd that we were unable to break down barrier between us up till now because we may have different orgins although we have same faith as we both are Muslims, on that bases we have so much in common that can not even be described. I didn't know that you were comparing reality with hypothetical statement and I took your hypothetical statement and its implications and compared them to reality in turn not knowing. I don't dislike UK, In fact I love this country along with some other western countries that I have travelled to and its people too - people in UK are more open minded then people in other Western countries. However, I do not let my love for this country blind me from seeing the bigger picture and seeing its short comings. I'm not Anti-everything but at same time I'm not Pro-everything either. I open my eyes to what's happening in my country UK along with whats happening in the World, what are the consequences of my county's actions and do put effort to change it for the better for good of all people suffering or let them know which actions can be harmful for the Muslims around the world. What crisis UK is facing due to its foreign policies and what impact its foreign policies is having in different parts of the world. We can't just sit and do nothing, saying every thing is perfectly going right! it will be like three monkeys saying I see nothing, I say nothing and I hear nothing! I will look forward to more interesting talks between us :) |
