Bismillahi Ar Rahmani Ar Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful I hope everything is well with you, Darth Ultor!
You have asked two very good questions!
The Jihad you are talking about; the inner struggle against Shaytan is called Jihad Al Nafs in arabic. This kind of Jihad is not only referred to the inner struggle against Shaytan, it is also an inner struggle against insatiable imagination, anger, desires, it is wherein a person strives to overcome temptations etc.
Jihad Al Nafs is not a pillar of Islam, but the pillars of Islam does indeed themself consist Jihad. You are also striving to internalise the Islamic teachings through acts of worship and devotion, e.g. prayer, fasting, almsgiving (Zakat).
It is jihad when you strive to wake up early in the morning and pray. It is jihad you when you stop doing everything you are doing and go immediately for prayer.
It is jihad when you fast and keep away your temptations and striving against your desires.
It is jihad when you pay Zakat even though there is something telling you that you shouldn't give away an amount of your wealth.
Jihad is what life is all about, it is like a nature of life.
As regarding the Sacred Mosque (Masjid Al Haram), the pronounciation is different from the word haraam which means forbidden/prohibited. It is two different words actually.
Haraam (forbidden/prohibited) has a long vowel so it will be Haraam.
But Masjid Al Haram (The Sacred Mosque) has a short vowel.
It is quite important to transliterate the words Haram and Haraam accurately in order to not cause misunderstandings.
Hope my answers has answered your questions in an appropriate manner. If you have any further questions regarding this or anything else about Islam, then we all Muslims here are happy to answer your questions correctly by the Help and Will of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'alaa - Glorious and Exalted Allah is).
Take Care and May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'alaa - Glorious and Exalted Allah is) bless you!
-----------------------
What ever Good I have said is from Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'alaa - Glorious and Exalted Allah is), but what ever bad and wrong I have said is from myself and my misdeeds. May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'alaa) forgive our sins and misdeeds and make us enabled to do more good deeds so we can please Him more, Ameen!
Remember also, Amr Bil Ma'ruf Wa Nahi Anil Munkar! (Command the right and forbid the evil!) - So, dear sisters and brothers in Islam, whatever wrong I have said correct me and InshaAllah, Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'alaa), will reward you with the greatest reward in this life and in the Hereafter! ----------------------- Edited by Ukhti S. - 08 May 2010 at 1:01pm |

The vineyard of the Lord Almighty Is the House of Israel, And the men of Judah Are the garden of His delight.
Raise the war cry you nations and be shattered. Listen all you distant nations. Prepare for battle, and be shattered. Prepare for battle, and be shattered. Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; Propose your plan, but it will not stand, For God is with us. For to us a child is born, To us a son is given, And the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. |

Nice topic, Five pillars of Islam. I want to add some more imformation, The first pillar:There is none worthy of worship except God (Allah) and Muhammad is the messenger of God. This declaration of faith is called the Shahadah, is very important first of all, you cannot became a Muslim without the faith of first pillar, others pillars importance also great, Namaz is most important and farz. Its important to follow and obey all five pillars, but Hajj and Zakat is farz on those people who is strong financially, Allah (SWT) is very merciful, Namaz is farz to all Muslims, and Shadah is compulsory to become a Muslim. Zakat is important form of worship; we have to help the poor people by paying Zakat, Sadaqa, and Qurz. Through these efforts, we can reduce the poverty. Zakat is the one of the five pillars of Islam. It is very important for a Muslim to pay Zakat. Allah (SWT) says in Quran: And they have been commanded no more than this: to worship God, offering Him sincere devotion, being true in faith; to establish regular prayer; and give poor due. (Holy Quran, 98:5) |
