In my opinion Allah Taala states, And say to the believing women, they should lower their gazes and protect their chastity and not expose their beauty except for what normally shows. (24:31) Edited by rahma2r |

I think its wrong, it a woman wants to wear a burka because she feels it protects her. Then she should be allowed to do it. It she's acting suspicious and they think she's a terrorist, then they need to detain her and summon a female police officer.

clearly there is an agenda here. That woman sounds like a fanatic. Glad the west is truly as 'open' as it proclaims to be. Growing up the west had 'communism' as the enemy to build upon fears and justify its policies. That ended now they need a new 'enemy' and has chosen Islam. Anyone who cannot see this is blind.

As-Salaam Alaikum sisters I agree with what you just said Sister Hayfa. I was listening to a comedian a long time ago and he said the exact same thing you said. I am also sick and tired of the double standard. I always hear people trying to preach to hijab, niqab, burka wearing sisters that a choice should be given to sisters if they want to wear hijab, niqab or burka or not. But I am noticing they are banning our rights and choices also. It is ashame that there are muslims who agree. hakeema |

Bismillah, Rita, Rita, Rita! She sounds like she's going to be running for office in the future! Aren't most bombs found to have been in back packs and such, not under a Burka? I don't much care what my Muslim sisters wear, Burka or jeans, as long as they don't pressure me to be like them. |

Burka is not a religous requirement, neither is Niqab so I don't think
the government has to protect it. If a women wants to wear a headscarf
she should be able to. I would love to see this growing trend of women
going over board and inventing new additions or requirements to our
religion stopped. And I think that is you are living in a western
society where you need identification to cash checks and use credit
cards and a drivers liscence and passport people need to SEE YOUR
FACE!!!! Otherwise anyone can put on a Burka and be whoever they want.
No thanks...

You cant be a good muslim if you are not decent and have a cold heart. Be a decent and kind person and care for women and children and the elderly.

Bi ismillahir rahmanir raheem
Jenni some people consider the burqa to be wajib and a requirment in our religion, you can not force them to give up there beliefes becouse you follow the opinion of a scholars who dont hold it to be a requirment. In Islam we have four schools of thought when it comes to islamic law we are free to follow anyone of them this is how it has been for the entire history of islam, we dont simply have one. All the prophets wives wore the burqah so you acusation of bidah is baseless, the weaker argument is that it is not wajib, since this opinion only came about in modern times to fasilitate ease for women. |
